Episode 87
What a busy few weeks it has been on the farm! So many things have happened and we want to share everything going on with all the rescued Belgian Draft Horses and other animals on the farm!
First, Blue the donkey that was rescued at the end of last year, she had her baby on April 6th! A beautiful baby girl who we named Violet! Both mom and foal are doing well with no complications.
Our latest three Belgian Draft horses rescued from slaughter have been doing so well! Will has been walking better after getting his stifle joint injected along with his OsPhos injection. We have not introduced him to the herd yet because he needs to gain some more weight and strength. In the afternoons we take him for walks in the pasture. Grace has been receiving her EPM treatments and has started to walk a little better. Once the treatment is completed we will have Dr. Waggoner reassess her to see if she will need a second round of treatment. Grace is doing amazing and enjoying every bit of retirement! Maisie, the 3rd horse we rescued is doing well too! She has been turned out with the rest of the horses and is finding her place in the herd. She is learning to make friends!
Korbin...has left the back yard finally! We moved him into the barn to start getting adjusted to the herd. Geldings will be geldings and there have been a few scuffles but we are working through the issues!
We have also been busy with visitors coming to the farm. Training our new intern, Tarin and starting to plan our therapy program. Most of you know, all the horses on the farm are here for retirement. Our plan was to start a therapy program for people with disabilities. We have started working on our business model for the program and can't wait to share what the plan will look like when completed.
We hope you enjoy this video! Make sure you like, comments and subscribe to our channel so you don't miss anything happening around here! Because it's never a dull moment!
If you would like to visit the farm, send us an email with the dates you will be in Amarillo, Texas and we will work to set up a time to visit.

As a growing horse rescue group, we rely on monetary donations to keep the organization moving forward. The Big Hoof Foundation will always be transparent with how your donations are used. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the rescued horses' bail fees, transport, feed, hay, medical bills, medications, alternative medical treatments, supplements, surgeries, etc. Every dollar raised is for the horses!
Our ability to help these horses is only because of the generous donations from our subscribers and followers! Please consider making a tax deductible donation to the Big Hoof Foundation to help us save more of these precious lives from shipping to slaughter and provide them with the care they deserve. Thank you everyone for your continued support in saving these gentle giants! We could not be saving these lives without you!
