I had LANAP surgery late last year...don't know why the hygienist calling mine 'osseous surgery' because my gums were not cut and peeled back, no stitches, just a laser, maybe she didn't know because he hadn't started the procedure yet...and this laser procedure actually spread the infection like wildfire in areas that weren't bad at all. I have gaps and recession everywhere now that stain, are extremely sensitive to cold, and the area that was problematic looks no different, still purple and blue. The thick white coating on my tongue came back as soon as antibiotics were discontinued. My perio never checked under a microscope to see what was inhabiting my mouth. He only gave me a one week course of amoxy. I asked for a longer course of amoxy and a combo of antibiotics, but he refused. He told me the laser could not reach the tooth root. Do deep cleanings/root planing and scaling reach the roots? I basically paid 3k for him to blow my gums apart and spread infection to healthy tissue. It was VERY painful once the anesthetic wore off. My upper lip still droops at times, one side or the other. I regret this surgery, but then again, he skipped steps by not looking under a microscope. This is especially concerning as I have neurological symptoms, such as head and hand tremors, that seem to coincide with the progression of my PD and flare-ups. I actually had myoclonic jerks in my shoulders as they were numbing me. An abscess had formed years ago, burst on its own and went untreated because I didn't know how serious it could be. Neurologist thinks I'm a nutcase begging him to do a lumbar puncture to check for oral microbes. Tremors. Drenching sweats. Pinpoint pupils that go wonky sometimes, assymetrical, and light sensitivity. Can't get my neurologist to listen. I think this surgery might have been successful if a competent perio had done the procedure. For me, I hate to even smile now.

I Always follow these great videos. Im a LANAP patient and always have a sense of hope with these videos....Dr. Nemeth, i’m your number 1 fan. Having class 1 mobile front teeth and periodontal disease makes me feel almost like a cancer patient.

Very true. When the mouth gets infected you feel it in the whole body. Feels like chronic fatigue.

Dr Nemeth...do gums minimally recede after a LANAP procedure?? I notice my gums had receded a little on some teeth after I got my procedure on 10/29/19. Thank you.

Can this be done on a tooth that has a gold crown that's had a root canal? My dentist says it has bone loss under the crown and may need to be extracted. I heard laser treatment may regenerates bone.

Hi, is WPT or Twin light therapy better than LANAP?

The unfortunate reality is that most dentists have not been trained to use Periolase. Unless you live in a large metro area you will likely have to travel far from home to get the Periolase procedure. Dr. Nemeth is in the Detroit Michigan metro area.

Hi! I have had frequent gum pain and recession for 5 years. But no bone loss and good hygiene so all the dentists told me to calm down and it was inflamed because I brushed too hard. I finally saw a specialist who took a deeper prove in the gums and there are Campylobacter, Fusobacterium and Parvimonas!! I am so shocked I was invalidated all along. That periodontist is in a fancy clinic and does laser, should I go for a classic SRP instead? Thank you

It depends on how severe the disease is. SRP could be sufficient for maintenance. If your Periodontitis is more advanced I would recommend using the laser.

@@josephrnemeth Thank you very much. I have no bone loss, so does it mean it is early stage?
