Its a free market, if the value proposition doesn't match the experience then the customer will not come back. Money is too tight to spend on a mediocre food experience when it costs double over wendys chipotle or chic fil a. No one wants to cook in Missoula we need better restaurants that are affordable.

during the credit crunch in the late 2,000's many full restaurants I attended for decades closed forever,.........and another dozen coffee shops opened up. I was walking distance to 27 coffee shops within five blocks, NOT including the major player or the Quay at the ocean edge, with many food court places selling coffee. End of an era: those restaurants were all family owned and high end, with medium prices. Time to retire and return perhaps to Italy, Greece, France, and Germany and Japan and China. The "tipping point" was hit, and I imagine Covid if it hit in 2008 would have been an even swifter death blow.

Price gouging, and shit managers are the biggest issues.
