A good chunk of people could of been saved if they went out to the sea when the guardians came. The guardians can't swim, and the sky watchers generally act more stationed to certain structures rather than free roaming as we see guardians do. I would like to see the unused manta ray Divine Beast design from the concept art be used in some way as it looked amazing. Maybe it could have been built as a prototype and then abandoned in the ocean for some reason, and it could serve as an underwater dungeon that Link needs to explore for clues as to what’s happening in Hyrule in the sequel. Maybe Sidon could even help Link reach it in a callback to how the two of them worked together in the first game.

A while back, I shared my idea for an underwater mini-boss on some other channels including Monster Maze and Waikuteru, so I'm sharing it here now :) Mini-Boss Name: Kraken Octorock Locations found: Beneath the seas of Hyrule (as as overworld boss for the underwater sections), and probably the deeper parts of the sea as well Look before Link gets close: it looks like an shipwreck from long long ago (I think there would also be some legit shipwrecks as well, and these ones could probably contain Easter Eggs got Wind Waker found in the form of captain's logs that could reference events that happen in the game) Look after Link approaches: The ship rises up and underneath is a giant Octorock (like there's a hole in the center of the ship so when the Octorock rises up, the front and back half of the ship are on either side of the top, so that the head and the two sides of the ship look like the stereotypical cartoon pirate hat) [in case it wasn't clear, this is based on the treasure chest Octorock]. Once it's fully out of the hole in the ground, it looks like a giant Octorock with relatively longer tentacles and the ship on its head (maybe could also have a crossbones design on its forehead but that might be a bit too much) Attacks and how to counter them (this has yet to be fully planned out but I do have some ideas) Tentacle sweep: swings 1-2 of it's tentacles in a slow-moving sideways or vertical swipe | can be stopped with the reverse time ability, but it's most likely easiest just to dogde them Cannonball fire: fires off rounds of shots from the.cannons while inhaling with its mouth (to try get you hit by its cannons but also inside itself so it can swallow you for an insta-kill) | Mash-swim away in the opposite direction and or use the stasis-like ability to make one of cannonballs go inside Loot dropped upon being defeated: lots of fish that are found in the region the Kraken Octorock is found, some treasure chests with rupees and some rusty weapons in there (which will be likely be able to repaired if there's a blacksmith system), and some various ores/gems

BotW's water bodies, combined with the punishing stamina system, made every body of water just quick death waiting to happen. Link can stop a charging Lynol with one arm, but can't swim for more than a few seconds before losing all stamina and dying a few feet from shore. Since there wasn't really anything in the waters to explore or much else to do besides crossing or the random chest to fish out, there is no good reason why the stamina bar should not have been just disabled when swimming. Or at the very least just slow Link down when his stamina runs out when swimming, but not being able to swim across a small river is beyond absurd for someone like Link.
@solracstormhunter3023

It's the same logic of climbing, sprinting and spinning attack but tuned harder. Swimming should consume way less stamina than it did. Limits are good and all but BotW takes it a little to hard.

There is endless potential for underwater gameplay in the sequel to Breath of the Wild. I have got a few ideas for what they could have: Have the draw distance be your greatest threat: You cannot see well around you, and you might mistake land for a monster, or get surprise attacked! Overworld bosses could have terrifying music like Jaws, be it a new form of Morpheel, a gigantic Octorok, or perhaps in Lake Hylia or the Lanayru swamps, have gigantic crocodiles! This was so cool thinking about the impact thalassophobia has on people. I trembled at the thought when drinking diet cola.

Imagine exploring coral reefs, deep undersea caves, maybe an ocean temple? The open sea could reveal many new enemies and challenges. Perhaps aggressive sea Zora, maybe we can ride a giant sea horse? Also, visibility is much lower under water. It could have a fog-like atmosphere where you can’t see too far ahead. Imagine going down really deep where it’s really dark - nearly black. You could find angler fish and bioluminescent life. So cool. Maybe you need deep sea diving gear to explore deeper.

The thing about Morpheel, though, is that it was also powered up by one of the Fused Shadows, and Darbus got a significant size increase when he was transformed into Fyrus by another. Also, Diababa was a gigantic deku baba plant, also transformed by a Fused Shadow. So we know the original creature's basic morphology would be similar, but not identical, and we also don't know exactly how big it originally had been. I'm willing to bet, though, that such a creature would make a nice trophy mounted on the wall... if you could fit it in your house.

So, rambly as this will sound, something I wouldn't mind seeing is evil Zora. I remember when we first meet them in Ocarina of Time, and I was surprised; these were Zora, and yet other Zelda games had established them as evil, fireball-spewing monsters that attacked from lakes and rivers. You could buy flippers in LotP, but even other Zora there just attacked. They've hopped back and forth since; sometimes being benevolent, and other times malicious, but rarely both in the same game. I seem to recall one element was salt; being sea Zora or river Zora had an impact on their temperament, and it could be neat to see them again, in BotW2. I don't want to take away from the aquatic Lizalfos, or the river Octoroks who pop up and hock stones at Link; between them, we sort of have the ideas of evil Zora from older games down, but I'd still like to maybe see them; sort of like how we have the Sheikah and the Yiga. I don't need the bad version of each race, but I do recall my oldest Zelda memories, of playing LoZ when it was the only Zelda game, and dodging fireballs from the middle of lakes you couldn't cross; I could enjoy some nostalgia, and whether it's a side faction of Zora gone Sahuagin, or the taint of Malice making new enemies of old allies, if Link is going to go deeper into the water, and further out to where there be monsters, I'd be happy to see some old school evil Zora.

I have a similar fear of lakes for the wildlife. I don't necessarily fear the ocean, but rather dislike beaches for the same reasons Anakin Skywalker does... PS: Look up Oarfish - they're like friendly sea serpents (long as 4 humans laying down)

Skull lake is hands down the scariest water area in Botw. The giant plants and pitch black water is just terrifying. I do NOT want to know what's down there. 😰

Maybe we should get a game where Mipha or another Zora magically makes Link into a Zora, and he can explore underwater. (orrr... explore as Link and Mipha's child..?)

This may be an unpopular opinion but I’d love to return to the current Hyrule one more time to complete a trilogy. In this latest version, I’d like to see Hyrule restored, nearly to its former glory, but still in a state of development. I’d like to be able to explore the Depths, but with other characters also exploring them, maybe even settling them. New sky islands, for sure. But also being able to search underwater, deep into lake Hylia, the surrounding oceans, new and small islands surrounding the Hyrule mainland , and potentially a nearby continent across the ocean. Perhaps a kingdom across the water to travel back and forth from. That last bit may be a stretch in the current hardware, but if a Switch 2 is released, I think the could make it work. I just feel like we’ve seen Hyrule in a state of destruction, but slowly going through a state of resurgence. Why not give it one more go and finally see the kingdom back on it’s feet after all of Link’s adventures?

4:44 Well, not really. This has been seen in many big species. They grow to be the biggest in their habitats, and while this is good for fights, as time passes it turns more and more into a disadvantage. The bigger the creature the more food it needs. The more food it needs the more it hunts. The more it hunts the less prey they find. The less prey they find the less food they have. Until there is not enough food that they just disappear and go extinct.

Subnautica is the only game I've played to make me scream out loud...so I think I and also my apartment neighbors would appreciate a new zelda taking as little inspiration from it as possible 😰

If they try the ocean voyage thing later down the road and you don't get to sing any sea shanties , I will be very disappointed. Oh , and harpoon cannons if they're going in a Twilight Princess kind of direction.

I think it would be kool if they had a Zora city in the ocean of botw 2. They had a Zora city in one of the 2D games that was really kool to come across imagine what they could do now.

I would love to explore the seas during the sequel. It would expand the gameplay and maybe the bestiary. We have travelled through all possible landscapes during the first game (Breath Of The Wild). It would be logical to go higher and further away (and deeper in the grounds).
