You are definitely one of my favorites Kristin! The sugar thing isn't weird at all. I add it to my homemade spaghetti sauce. Sugar cuts the acidity of the tomatoes thats why it works so good

Why does she always say she is 'weird that way'? Most people add sugar, its nothing special
@Elizabethsceg

She probably says that because people like you are rude about every little thing which makes people self conscious. Many people may use brown sugar in chili, but it’s apparent that it’s not common for people to have manners.

I even add brown sugar to my spaghetti sauce. :) I feel like it’s definitely more of a southern thing but even southerners are divided. I am in KY too but I do not add spaghetti or pasta to soups or chilis. We never eat the full pot and I find the pasta absorbs the juices and the pasta gets mushy. I always cook and store my pasta separately and add it to the bowl when we reheat the chili or soup. I grew up eating chili with spaghetti but my husband prefers his without. He just wants cheese on his. He eats peanut butter and strawberry jelly sandwiches with his. I grew up eating just crackers with mine unless we had chili at school. Then we had peanut butter and honey sandwiches.
