I' think it's also notable how they use a different version of this opening around the halfway mark. They go from a bombastic, full orchestral opening to a more empty-sound band version with an electric guitar being the main melody. It's subtle, but given the events that happen around this point in the series and the fact that Satou is in a worse place than he previously was, it's a fitting change and make this dark yet comedic opening even darker and emptier.

I really like how the presence (or lack of) the trumpets in the opening add to the tone of the show. See, with the trumpets, Puzzle is an upbeat song, in my opinion anyway. In the show, things are moving forward and building momentum. It's all going RELATIVELY well. Right? However, in the latter half of the show, his friends are finding their happy endings and all walking away from Sato's life. Sato is slowly becoming isolated again, and a gloomy, lonely tone seems to take hold during these episodes. And Puzzle, without the trumpets, becomes rather somber and lingering. I feel that it reinforces the idea that life, unlike an anime/show/whatever they said, keeps moving. There's no happily ever after. It just keeps going, just as the song seems to.

But Instead of Hitomi again, i think the girl underwater is Megumi Kobayashi (the one trapped on a pyramid scheme) because at the end of her arc, she is submerged on a bathtub wondering what is she going to do, looking through the window, and the sun is very bright. Well, that is what i think.

+INTJ-Skorpyo7 its not only American, its a language technique called an abbreviation. It's when you shorten a word to make it more convenient to type or write. Abbreviations are used a lot on the internet so you're going to have to get used to it. When we say OP, in this conversation he meant Opening or opening credits.
@billdonoso2000
8 жыл бұрын
INTJ-Skorpyo7 Yeah, Beelzebub gave a pretty good explanation of it. In verbal communication it's a lot easier to just say opening but it's sort of evolved to attach abbreviations to most things for easier recognition. Like ED, that means the ending song of the anime. It's useful to make deductions and try to figure it out before you search or ask too. :)
@billdonoso2000
8 жыл бұрын
INTJ-Skorpyo7 Well now, let's not jump to conclusions. I have studied several languages and understand the barriers of living in a different culture than them. I'm not saying that you're inept because you didn't understand what an OP was either, it's perfectly fine. However, seeing from this link ( lmgtfy.com/?q=What+is+an+anime+op) I'd think it would be easier to understand. Again, don't feel bad for not knowing it, but the internet is vast and incredibly useful for things like this specifically. Hope you have a nice day. :)

McLovin I think that's what openness and curiosity can do sometimes. MB's content is really all about taking another look at things and that must be somehow rubbing off on people, which is really nice to see. As requested, you're freaking great. Really appreciate the time you take into these videos! As for the scene that Satou's cowering in the corner with the dots in the background, to carry on with the theme of this opening's affinity with artistic style, I just wanted to point out that those dots really remind me of the Benday dots popularized by Roy Lichtenstein. Lichtenstein took the style adopted by Benjamin Day and often exaggerated them in his copies of contemporary comics that used a similar process to create the comics. Might be a reach trying to fit in this with the themes of the opening, but do you think there might be something here to look into? Cheers!

I always saw it as while alone and depressed he is there seems to be a silhouette of someone there behind him keeping company and watching over him; Misaki. Cleverly and mysteriously worked in as not only does the show reveal her obsessive nature with Saito but it also shows that it is because they share a similar lonely and depressing mindset. Great video though. Would be glad to help on this sort of commentary. Hire me :)
