Vadim Stetsyuk Agree. I was raised on ramen. Pound for pound beans and rice is much healthier and more economical, especially brown rice. Yay beans and rice!

Ramen would be slightly better for getting protein, fats and a bit too much sodium, rice and beans have a lot more micronutrients but not enough protein. Depends on your definition of 'healthy' I guess. If you don't use the taste powder, then it's a lot more healthier, albeit not as much tastier. And yes, I know all this because I have survived 2 weeks completely on ramen and some eggs.

Thanks to Ramsay’s advice, I managed to shake most of my bad financial literacy. I still struggle sometimes but managed to pay off most of my debt and actually have a functioning savings account. When my chihuahua was recently attacked by a roaming dog and had to be rushed to the vet, it was such a sense of relief to know I could pay for the treatment and care without worry whereas just two years prior I had to borrow just to get medicines he needed. I’ve resisted the temptation to trade in my car, and it’s been paid off and running great for seven years now. No more credit cards. Ever.

Although Z ; good question It is really the connivence. I don't have to go to the bank often to withdraw cash. For day to day Between groceries, gas , etc., family of 4..... I'll spend $1500 a month Also for the convience of online shopping. Credit card company's are awesome about taking responsibility for fraudulent charges. My card earns 1% although not a fortune I've received over $4000 in cash back over the last 15 years. Credit cards are widely accepted everywhere.
@orion3706
8 жыл бұрын
+Craig Marston Aside from getting cash back, which yours amounts to $22.22 per month, why not just use debit cards? They're just like credit cards, there's no anticipation of a bill coming due, and there's no need to carry cash. I used to have a credit card, and I used the rewards points to rent a car. It code 27,000 points to rent the car, and each point was worth a dollar. For what I spent to rent the car, I could've paid cash for it. Suit yourself, but I'll never have another credit card again.

+Craig Marston Debit cards can be used just like credit cards, and the cardholder, as with credit cards, is not responsible for fraudulent charges. I know I sound like an advertisement, but I haven't had a credit card in two years, and I've been just fine without one.

Dave is good, but, there are a few areas of his advice, that need personal modification. Student loans.. hes absolutely correct about some of the crazy debt that some kids get attached too, but.. if loan debt is small, say under 15 or 20 k, after 4 years, for a useful degree... well worth it. Also,his debt snowball, is great for most folks, however, to pass up company matching funds, or not to take interest rates into account, when deciding on debt prioritization, is only gonna push the debt off, or leave you with less money for retirement, when the debt is paid off. On the whole though.. Dave nails it.
@matthewbartke4424
9 жыл бұрын
Well, he does say that he knows the debt snowball isn't mathematically optimal. The idea is for people who are bad with finance and spending control to have a psychological edge because the debt is coming off fast and they keep motivated and not fall back into their bad habits.
@brandonhoover2120
7 жыл бұрын
And tying that money up into retirement means you have less each month to pay things off with. A year to max two years isn't gonna make a difference at all in a 30-50 year span, at all. His thing is all about best behavior modifications you can go through. If you were so worried about paying interest or saving for retirement, you wouldn't be buying things you couldn't afford on these cards, and at the car dealership.

The problem is getting a job with a degree that a college only thinks cost 15 to 20k will not be useful unless doing a trade like auto mechanics or plumbing or carpentry but getting a job in cybersecurity or anything dealing with technology will cost significantly more because the colleges know they can make a killing off of them because how many people will apply for them.

Apparently he borrowed too much money on short 90 day loans, as opposed to the 30 year fixed that are now on offer. It's still great to buy real estate with leverage from the bank. Just don't do it the way he did it.
@eatpigsnot

no. it's smart to buy investment real estate only with cash. your personal home should have at least 20% down (no PMI), and a monthly payment that is no more than 1/4 of your monthly take home pay. no more than a 15 year fixed rate mortgage. kzitem.info/news/bejne/s6yJnJWkjKVimG0

"Antimetabole is a literary and rhetorical device in which a phrase or sentence is repeated, but in reverse order. Writers or speakers use antimetabole for effect-calling attention to the words, or demonstrating that reality is not always what it seems by using the reversal of words." The phrase calls much more attention to the meaning that sits behind the words themselves.

4 million dollars of real estate that you didn't own. You were in possession of it, but you didn't own it. The bank owned it. You were never a millionaire at 28, Dave.
@jpsky1625

***** Actually, if you listen to his radio show or read his books, you'd know he only owed 3 million of that 4 million. 4M-3M=1Million. He owned 1 million dollars of equity. His net worth was $1,000,000.00 Pretty sure that made him a millionaire, unless the word has a different definition in your Bizarro World... weirdo. What possesses complete strangers to feel the need to talk about things when they really have no idea what the bloody hell they're talking about. You felt confident enough with how much you know about his life's history from a 4 minute video to correct him on his own life? The man has finance degrees, and a mutlti-million dollar empire. He has helped countless people become debt free and independently wealthy, but you still think you understand better than he does whether or not he was a millionaire? For crying out loud, get a hobby, you clown. Now, what if you were right? Let's say Dave was not a millionaire by any definition of the word. How does that invalidate his message in any way? Is that a substantive, worthwhile issue when discussing wealth creation, debt resolution, and winning with money? Does it have any relevance to what Dave says is a Biblical way of managing finances? FFS.
