Thanks for this. Very handy for thinking about what I’d like to try out. I think it takes some time to settle on the key components and finding out what you can rely on. Takes a bit of trial and error and experimenting. Nice to get inspiration from an experienced hiker like your good self. As a more traditional tramper I will need to learn what I feel comfortable compromising on re weight vs durability vs safety.

Sounds like you are adopting a good approach regarding weight vs durability vs safety. It definitely takes a bit trial and error

Always love looking inside peoples backpacking bags. Gives me ideas. I currently have the Alton insulated sleeping pad, but would love the Zenbivvy mattress and sleep system for cold weather and Nemo 2P elite tent. Just need to save haha

Love seeing what other people are using also! Ah, good old hiking gear, the more you pay, the less you get! Always have to save! Zenbivvy gear seems interesting. Maybe I have to re-look at some of their stuff, thanks for the reminder!

That little tea filter looks like a nice addition and save a messy pot. I was gonna get jetboil french press plunger which works with the diameter of the 750 toaks pot i have, but then you need to use water to wash out the grinds. Do you just do a pour over style coffe with the filter?

The only issue I see with the using a jetboil plunger with the toaks 750ml would be that due to those pots being so light and thin they bend out of shape easily so you may have issues with getting a good seal. Yes, it's just a pour over style coffee and you alter the strength by how how long you let it soak for.

Thanks for taking the time to do that for us - really informative. I’ll look into the MacPac Nitro gear, that’s not been on my radar. An extra day’s food and whisky! You don’t look a day over 25!

@AlexsAustralianAdventures I'm glad you found it interesting. The Nitro pullover or anything made solely out of polartec alpha direct is definitely worth checking out. I really can't recommend it enough.
