In this video, I will search through a bag of copper and nickel goodies I purchased from my coin dealer. I was able to purchase this bag of coins that had small cents that included Indian Head Cents, Steel Cents, older wheat cents as well as a ton of nickels - buffalo nickels, liberty v nickels and other old coins! My Silver Dealer knows the things I like and sold all of his extra coins to me for a great deal. Since I usually purchase all the old silver and he knows I like copper too, he let me get it all! I will be looking for key dates, semi key dates, upgrades, and of course and varieties within the years I hunt. Hopefully you all enjoy this video! I know it's a bit long, but we had a lot to go through! As always - Happy Hunting and Thanks for Watching AND keep Stacking that silver my friends!!! Maybe you can comb through all the 1943 steel cents for any D or S mints to add to your Lincoln cent album since you're having a tough time finding them in coin roll hunting as a shortcut here Rob...hopefully they're not all just Philly minted! 🙂

Lots of fun as usual! What a great bag of copper and nickel you purchased! The 1908-S IHP and the 1909 VDB DDO pay for the bag themselves and then some. I looked thru some examples of 1908-S reverses and your right, the mintmark seems to placed in different spots on that coin in the examples I saw. Very cool finds overall! That "trickle" is really nice shape, as are many of the other IHP's that were in the bag. Once again, thanks for letting us join you in the search!

Yeah it is amazing right? Way too good to be true in my opinion there is no way a coin shop owner would leave those in a bag of 'junk' copper n nickels I'm just saying!

Well, you have to think about how a coin store works. If the store owner took the time to put each one of these coins in a flip, then they would have to also spend time coming up with a grade and a price for each coin, and then they have to wait for someone to come in and buy each coin individually. A lot of coin stores just want to flip whatever they get as fast as possible. This bag of coins was probably a part of a huge collection, and the coins that were already in flips were set aside for pricing later. So, let's say this seller paid $50 for this bag of coins, and he has a chance to sell it for $100 - they will do that almost every time as they just doubled their money. And most of the coin dealers I know don't take time to check for errors or varieties, especially if they are sitting on a lot of inventory to process. I have bought a lot of "grab bags" of coins from my coin dealers for very little money - and every once in a while, you will get a decent find.@@tfort66633

Trust me I know how shops work I've been going to the same few for years what I'm saying is all stuff is searched before being re sold and anything like a 08s indian head would not be in a random junk bag to be resold
@SouthernMetal
Жыл бұрын
That's a good point. I guess it just depends on if the coin dealer searched the bag at all. Maybe he didn't think someone would have put a 1908-S IHC in a bag full of other coins. Maybe he thought the buyer would have put that one in a flip. Scores like this all come down to people not taking the time to check. I have had similar scores from my LCS (but not as good as that IHC). @@tfort66633

Amazing bag! I’ll have to see if my dealer will do something like this for me. He hates coming through cents as he’s mainly a pre-33 gold kind of guy. In my most recent buy, I found 3 1931s in a bin he gave me where I paid a nickel each. I had to tell him and I offered to take them back. He let me keep the best of the 3 which is a nice AU and it’s red brown

You're right about the 1872 Indian Head penny. I have one. I was at a gun show about 20 years ago and an exhibitor had a bowl of Indian Head pennies for sale for $1 each. I found the 1872 but it wasn't in great shape so I left it there. I talked to a coin dealer there and told him what I found. He asked if I bought it and I told him I didn't and then he got all excited and told me to go back and find it because in it's present shape it was worth $60. I went back, found it and he was right. It's now worth a whole lot more.
