I just love how you have all of those watercolour pans in there, it is such a neat way to store an entire collection. I'm tempted to fill one with all of mine, lol. Who doesn't want an Art Chest? It's like a Pirate treasure chest full of artistic booty! 😂

I can't wait to see you try the derwent drawing pencils and the Neocolor II's. You KNOW I have a thing for Neocolors :D And the derwent drawing pencils are the softest sexiest colored pencils, and they ALL GO TOGETHER. You can pull out a handful of random pencils and they always look good together!

Awesome! At the time, I thought four drawers would be enough but I probably should've opted for the six drawers. I underestimated my ability to collect. 😁

Those Neocolor II ‘s are wax pastels. They are really fun. Nice set of pencils that your viewer shared. Derwent Drawing and the Lightfast are “chef’s kiss” so good.

Fully coveting that set of drawers! How do you store your paint tubes?
@INCWorks

At the moment, my tube paints are in a couple of plastic storage containers (from DAISO) - similar in size to the pencil boxes used by schoolkids. Actually... you can see them in a video from last June called 'Diddling With My Watercolors' - it's around the nine-minute mark. It's not fancy but it works fine for me. 😊

Here's a tip. The watercolor Crayons are just like oil pastels and water soluble oil pastels. They will dry out. If you aren't using them on the daily best you wrap them tight in a plastic or waxed bag. If you don't want to do that get done oxygen absorbers and place them in with your crayons. Otherwise they are just going to turn into a crumbling mess.

Question, I have seen other artists that just have them together in their pencil box or the tin for years and they have worked the same as new ones so did this happen to you personally or is there a particular reference that you suggest because I have never ever heard of this and oil pastels stay just fine(I do both) in their drawers too? Crayons are more wax than pigment so I don’t see how they would affect the Neocolor II. The humidity absorbers that are found in vitamin bottles, in new shoes and purses are to keep them dry. So the drying affect according to what I understand that you might be implying would absorb moisture hence further drying out the water soluble pigment crayons. So there are similar products such as Lyra’s brand and some other products on the market. There are no instructions other than they are sold individually and in tins which are not air tight, technically there is no such thing unless in a vacuum. Many artists keep them in plastic containers or as mentioned even old pencil boxes. Certainly if they dried a bit that would not affect the fact that water revives them. I have not seen anything in any sources that suggest that. So I am asking what source suggested that they would crumble if not plastic wrapped? Lindsay from the frugal crafter has had her’s for years and a couple weeks ago pulled them out and they were all right.

Thanks, Phillip. I hadn't heard of that possibility with these products, but I will keep your warning in mind and do further research when I can.

I talked with Dick Blick’s technical support artists which get feedback from issues dealing with products and offer suggestions. They mentioned that with all of their sales of the product in question that they just recommended regular storage and the only thing that would affect them is hot humid weather or unless they were stored in an extremely dry desert climate in the direct sand. They mentioned that they have their own little area but nothing special was required. I wanted to check because I had purchased the 30 count plus some of my favorite colors. I hope that helps because both techs never had heard of them crumbling and they would probably outlast any crayons due to their lightfastness. Happy happy painting to all.

Wow so organized! I think that second unit might be needed soon. I know someone that has a six drawer one from Meeden. She has 2 other five drawer ones for pastels. Actually I am speaking in 3rd person. I can check out how to ship them. It probably costs the same just to order. We are under bad tornado warnings and baseball size hail so I just wanted to say don’t hold back on diving in your supplies. Make lots of happy mistakes and enjoy. I add over watercolor each of those things but my newest is the Neocolor II too. And producer Mike is right about mixing our own greens. Phalo green and quin gold ( burnt orange and nickel azo yellow) is a great staple green. Even indigo due to the blue in it makes a great deep green. You have made some beauties and I look forward to seeing you enjoy more projects. No pressure though. Now I better clean up my mess. I put my pencils in a zip bag that looks like luggage but has flip boards with slots for my pencils and it holds 500. So It can’t hold any more. But one can mix colors and do so much with a handful. And Gamsol doesn’t affect a watercolor painting underneath. Amazon sells them inexpensively and the tips don’t snap. Oh thunder well thank you for sharing how you organize. Great method.

@@INCWorks oh yea of the best kind! Sometimes I stick to one media even one color, just sometimes. Maybe it’s that rule breaker in me still sneaking out and I think it might influence others. Beware:)I influence my very artsy relatives too. It ‘s a hoot! They are hooked on colored pencils and watercolor pencils too now and just wait for those Neocolors to pop out and then it just happens. I can’t help it. I will not art detox.
