Personally, I think Carli needs to develop a 2.5” shock with no reservoir intended for street/tow guys. By having a no resi 2.5” Spec shock you’d get a much better valve profile than the 2.0’s given the actual larger shock diameter, and the shock would be cheaper than Pintops because of no resi.

With a ton of trucks now midnight or blacked out editions, are they making a shock that will blend in with those type of builds?

"Chrome plated steel" I thought one of the selling features of carli was a more durable ss shaft?
@JustDiesels
Жыл бұрын
Their King shocks use a stainless shaft, but all their existing Fox shocks (and any other Fox shock for that matter) uses chrome plated steel shafts. Stainless shafts would significantly raise the price, which isn’t ideal when the 2” diameter shock offerings for the Commuter and Backcountry are supposed to be more budget friendly. Anything 2.5” and larger diameter King shock based is stainless.

King, Fox, Bilstein, etc. all come with Chrome plated shafts in their 2.0” shocks. No one makes stainless for an entry level shock - massively cost prohibitive. Step up to 2.5” reservoir shocks and you have the option to pay for stainless upgrade with a couple manufacturers but all manufacturers still spec with chrome plated.

Would be awesome to hear what Carli looks for regarding ride quality
@CJCOffRoad
Жыл бұрын
The goal is to be as smooth as possible! What that means depends on the system. For example, the Commuter is tuned to be as smooth as possible on the street, while the Backcountry is tuned to offer the best ride on road as well as light or low speed off road driving.

Just bought the Pintop for my 2011 F350. I absolutely love the ride. I wish it was slightly softer over small rough stuff like railroad crossings but overall I’d say I’m 90% happy with the purchase.

Kings get softer as they wear in. They need a few thousand miles to reach their prime.
@secretsquirrel572
Жыл бұрын
@@Rhinopkc that’s what I was told. They’ve got about two thousand miles on them now. I’m thinking of checking the nitrogen charge and maybe let a little out. I understand they come charged from Carli at 265 psi and can be let down to 190. So I may drop them to the low 200s and see if they’re any better.
@CJCOffRoad

Remembering that nitrogen charge is more related to preventing cavitation than anything else. Shoot us an email and we’re happy to suggest areas you might be able to improve ride. Tire pressure is a huge one. With a properly set up truck with a pintop system, full packs, and tires at the right pressure, the truck should be very smooth. Shock break in is a real thing too.

@@CJCOffRoad I’m running 295/65/20s and I’ve lowered the pressure to 55 psi on all four tires. I’m not running the Deaver rear leafs because my airbags need the rear block. Thinking of adding the add a pack but not sure if the 2” block will be tall enough to work with the airbags.

I have the Backcountry 2.5" on my 18 F250. Around town - small bump ride quality has never been great. What kind of difference might I see with the Carli SPEC shocks?
@CJCOffRoad
Жыл бұрын
These shocks are actually noticeably more sensitive around town, but from the sound of it your issue isn’t shock based. It sounds like it’s related to tire pressure, tire size, or other suspension setup. Do you still have the stock rear leaf packs?
What do you mean by “more sensitive?” Better small bump compliance or worse small bump compliance in comparison to the fox shocks?

Stainless just doesn't make sense on a 2" shock as they're supposed to be more cost friendly, which is why these and none of the outgoing Fox packages had them. Carli does offer stainless shafts standard on all their 2.5" and 3" King shock packages however!
