I love how she switches back and forth with languages in her story!

Yes, I thought that was so cute! I wish I had a friend to speak to me like that every day. I'd pick up the language faster. :-)

At 2:53 the translation reads “lovely” instead of “lonely”. : ) When she talks about mixing the languages near the end of the video…I totally get it. I lived in Japan for many years (in Saitama then Suginami-ku) and married my wife there. We communicated 100% in Japanese. After moving back to the U.S. and she started to become comfortable in English, we started mixing the two languages. Then we had twins. Their first language was Japanese because that is what my wife spoke to them. They also went to a Japanese language preschool. After starting elementary school they started to become English dominant. They also continued to go Japanese school where they followed the Japanese school curriculum. When we talk as a family it is a mess of the two languages. When we have non-Japanese speaking people over they think we’re crazy mixing the two languages and can’t understand us. 😂. Love your channel. ❤️

I wonder if living in Japan has been lonely for Sarah's mom as she only speaks Bengali 😞

I love the way that Sarah has essentially amalgamated her own language, somewhere halfway between Japanese and English. Reminds me a lot of my friend from New Brunswick, Canada that speaks in this wacky fusion language between French and English called Chiac.

I am always amazed and intrigued watching and listening to polyglots switch back and forth between languages even in the middle of sentences. This kind of stuff is so interesting to me. Thanks for great videos.

I switch between 4, if that's interesting to you: French, Polish, English and Japanese. It's actually pretty hard to use only one language at a time without feeling tempted to throw in some expressions from another language that would better fit the situation.
