There are people who think Elizabeth Taylor was the most beautiful ever. To me she was overrated. Imo Maureen was more beautiful than her. There were others who imo were more beautiful than ET. Maureen was as you said stunning.

Very self-assured. She did a number of swash-buckling films early on and did most of her own stunts, a practice that she continued. Most people remember the horseplay in McClintock and The Quiet Man. She broke her hand in The Quiet Man.

Maureen O'Hara is one of my all-time favorite actresses. She is also the favorite actress of both of my children in their 30s. She has all generation appeal. We loved her in parent trap and we loved her in all of the John Wayne movies. Rest in peace. There will never be another like you.

Mrs. Williams the sardine lady had such a cool authentic Maine accent. She was pretty, too. (I wanted to say something other than how gorgeous Maureen O’Hara was since I think we covered that already.) And I just googled Hazel Williams, she was also a champion figure skater! They should have mentioned that on the show.

FYI Maureen is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, her husband was a highly decorated Brigadier General in the Army Air Corps, /Air force she is buried beside him.

I never knew who Dorothy Kilgallen was. I watched the most interesting dedication to her. Ms. Kilgallen was a very astute and popular newspaper writer. I believe she was murdered as Marilyn Monroe was murdered.

She was writing an article about her interview with Jack Ruby and had told friends this was the biggest story of her life. She was murdered. The FBI came in and confiscated all of her notes and written material to cover up the assassination of President Kennedy. I've always liked her in all the movies I've seen her in, especially with John Wayne. I loved the way she introduced his character in Big Jake. She says: "It is I think going to be a very harsh and unpleasant kind of business and will I think require an extremely harsh and unpleasant kind of man to see to it." Scene changes to John Wayne sighting down a gun barrel...

Nobody really answered your question. She clarified that she had been born in Ireland, but was then an American citizen, so her answer that she was an American was accurate. She wasn't asked where she was born...she was asked if she was an American.

Second contestant: WML's production staff had a genius for finding these pretty, articulate, and interest contestants doing the darnest things for a living. Her seamless plug for the Maine Sardine Industry has to be a classic moment. producer Gil Fate once wrote that some animals are always good for a laugh, and fish is one of them. Arlene's reaction [ 12:20 ] to the image of the contestant helping along fish reproduction is pretty funny.
