I am looking for design software for a CNC I am getting and these improvements/updates were actually what I was looking for last year in software, multi-tool pocketing and chamfers. This video shows how they are used effectively and quickly. Although, the multi-tool pocketing won't save me time without an auto bit changer, the pathway seems great.

That's good to hear that this is what you were looking for :) You are totally right multi tool pocketing add's time to the overall process when you have to manually change tools, in these instances it's really up to the user to decide whether that is quicker or not based on estimated and actual machining times. Thanks for your comment :)

Love the updates and the ability to add the laser. Wish there was a way to get the files we create in your program to export into our trotec laser program. I was really excited when the video for the laser came up. I have so many 3d files I would like to use in both my CNC and laser but have no way in pro to export the grayscales.

Hello Cindy. Thank yu for the comment. Yes you are correct you coan't export Grayscales from VCarve Pro... you would need to upgrade to Aspire for that feature. ~Todd

Vectric is great software and I haven't had any issues until today when I installed this new version 10.503. I send my G code though UGS and have never had issues with vcarve 10. now all of a sudden I'm getting error codes and my cnc stops. But when I generate my g code through version 10 it runs flawlessly.

Thanks for this. Does the chamfer toolpath work on 90 degree internal corners?

No problem! Yes the Chamfer Toolpath does work on 90 degree internal corners, you just need to set it "Inside & Sloping Downwards" I hope this helps!

@Tripp Williamson Since VCarve is mostly used on wood, why would you need a trochoidal (adaptive, dynamic etc) toolpath? Most people have no idea what it is the purpose of trochoidal toolpaths. I can assure you, on wood you are well off without it. Also please tell me, what would you expect if you had such a toolpath option? Faster roughing times perhaps?

@@chronokoks Well, how about longer tool life, less tool deflection on harder or gummier materials like aluminum, brass or bronze, or when using less rigid machines. Much more consistent chip sizes that won't block a flute or weld itself on the tool as easily either when working metals. It'll also reduce the chance of delaminating materials like carbon- or glass fiber due to inconsistent tool engagement angles. I for one am considering VCarve for working with those materials to make parts for further machining tools and models out of metals, aside from making architectural and other such models out of wood and foams. Trying to cut e.g. 5083 alu that I have reserved for a CNC lathe project using a single or two flute carbide end mill at 18-24k RPM, at feedrates over two meters per minute, hitting a sharp corner with a traditional tool path could end up quite badly for the bit, whereas an adaptive one would keep the chip load and changes in feed direction more consistent. Aluminum is quite picky about feeds and speeds and some alloys aren't as easily machined. VCarve seems quite affordable and versatile to hobbyist level consumers compared to more milling oriented subscription based professional CAM software. Especially if Vectric is actually willing to look into developing adaptive tool paths, that would be a pretty good selling point for me, as someone who is still looking for software alternatives while building my CNC router just as Autodesk limited Fusion 360.
