These fit almost everything I want in a JM except moving the trem plate and ditching the rhythm circuit. Great video though! I haven't come across your stuff before and this was awesome!

Thanks for watching! Yeah the rhythm circuit has a few people bummed. It is admittedly a “modernized” line, and I personally like the simplified 3 way toggle, but I definitely hear that complaint.

Glad that they're going with a more traditional Jazzmaster this time around. But you just know that five years from now people will be pining for the pau ferro days! :)

haha I can't imagine that being the case - all those pao ferro boards seemed to arrive looking like a parched desert wanderer. wasn't a fan, but I've been wrong before..

Back in the 90’s the srv strat was premium for pau ferro, it was dumb looking then too

so cool, I just think the pickups (dry signal) are way too bright. But I guess thats something that could be worked around in a good way?
@AmbientEndeavors

yeah , JMs in general can come off as bright. I think this one will benefit from a little heavier strings, but I kind of like the vibe, and agree that it's generally easier to tame brightness vs having overly dark pickups - hard to add it back in!

do you prefer the P bass over the jazz bass? if so why? would you also consider a mustang bass as a guitar player?
@AmbientEndeavors

for me I much prefer the feel and vibe of the P over the J. The narrow nut width on the J never felt right, and the tones of the P are more what I'm generally wanting to hear for the music I'm writing these days. It has a power and thump that the J doesn't have. I own and love my Vintera II Mustang ! Those short scale basses are great for guitarists as the crossover to a longer bass neck isn't as dramatic. Check out this video for a little taste of the Mustang bass, and it shows up in a bunch of videos on the channel.kzitem.info/news/bejne/qIGsuXuHr6pyo44

Jazz player 2 or squier j mascis ? What you think?

I’d take this one. Better hardware (specifically the bridge) , the rolled neck edges make it really comfortable, and I prefer these pickups overall to the JMJM. Also you get like 5 color options if that matters :)

My only gripe is the tremolo plate placement and the tuner bushings, but I love the fretboard material and radius. Don’t mind the frets. Love that they are rolling the edges and the price point is pretty fantastic. Wish they included the rhythm circuit controls, but I’m sure that factored into the price.

I don’t think I’m a purist enough to care about those - but I hear ya. Yeah. Even just routing for the rhythm circuit would have been nice. The neck feel overshadows nearly any gripes for me. and the pickups sound great.

@@AmbientEndeavors I’m with you though - I really like what they did and it’s not enough for me to not want one. I really want to experience the neck. They’ve done so many vintage radius models lately but I really liked the player I models with modern radii - just tricky to find a good looking piece of pau ferro. Your demo definitely makes me think I wouldn’t change the pickups - they sound great!

Sucks to have left handed options gutted from the original lineup. No left handed basses. As usual, no offsets - and even if was only just the standard black I'd pickup that JM in a heartbeat. Would love a mustang bass. Fender just never misses a chance to leave out lefties.

ugh, I feel for you man. I like the thought if maybe just having ltd color hues for left-handed models like you mention. doesn't seem like TOO MUCH TO ASK FOR ha.

Its because most people are right handed

It took me a while to learn a right handed guitar when I was in high school. I am left-handed, but that time I don't have guitar so I borrowed my friend's right handed. Right now I have 2 acoustics, 4 electric guitars and a bass that are all right handed.

That bass headstock seems HUGE for some reason. Like much bigger than other bases 😅 It’s just awkward looking. But I LOVE the black JM with the aged looking pickup covers. It sounds amazing too!!

haha interesting. Everything on a P bass feels oversized to me coming from guitar lol. but yeah, I love how it feels and sounds, and the JM is pretty sweet. thx for watching man!
