However, I'm proud to be a part of this Katana society. Even though I'm just a mk 1 owner. And my laptop broke down just now I was going to use the Boss tone studio. So that's something I have to explore first. By the way you have a great bunch of guitars there.

I sent mine back. I didn't like it. If you like a lot of bells & whistles, you will probably like it. But I found it very limited for just simple, clean tone. The acoustic channel was decent but the clean channel was very thin and trebley. Frankly, I think my Fender Champ 40 or Orange 35RT had much fuller, warmer clean tone. Not my cup of tea.

Another good review and demo. I've used a Katana 50 Mk1 this year for gigging and have no complaints - cheap & cheerful. It lacks the tonal richness and character of a decent valve amp, but also weighs significantly less. It would be cool if Boss 'took away' from the amp, instead of adding more stuff. For me, a simple Katana 50 'lite' with one clean channel, volume & master + a single tone control would make a great pedal platform.

I know your comment is a year old, but the biggest thing with digital amps for me is that they never "feel" right. My GF thinks I was making dumb excuses just to buy another amp, but guitarists know what I'm talking about. Anyways I ended up trying the MkII 100/212 recently at my local music store and took it home that same day just because it felt like an amp should. Not sure if you ever got a Katana or not, but they feel as great as they sound.

4 yrs. Late to seeing this video, but having just picked up a MkII 50 as a backup for my ailing Marshall 100w Super Lead, I'm absolutely ecstatic with the amp. Ive always played either Marshall, Peavey 5150, Vox, or Fender valve amps, and having my only real experience with high end SS amps like the classic Roland Stereo Chorus, or several Galien Kruger models over the years. Having sold most of my other amps except my Marshall, and the fact I've been having a hard time getting parts, and decent power tubes for quite some time, I needed to have something reliable and good sounding. This amp just blows me away every time I play it. Ticks all the boxes for a recording, and home amp. I find the tones and versatility very inspiring, and unlike so many modellers of the past, the effects are exceptionally good, and what makes it next level is the ability to place them in any chain location, and pre/post gain. With many others Ive tried in the past, only a few effects really seemed useful, and some of the amp models themselves just lacked that magic, dynamics and sparkle found in a good valve, or SS. Often they just fell very short imo. It's simply a very well thought out design that doesn't try to hard to be something it isn't. Theres really nothing included that falls short, or leaves you expecting more, which is a real benefit. There's really nothing I can add as a negative.

Thanks for the demo. Is there a way to use a loop pedal with the new 50?

@MrAquatoad

@@JacksonBrooksby I'm wondering if @SkinnyFingerz is looking to record a loop with a particular set of amp-based effects, then to play over that loop with a different set of amp-based effects? Eg clean backing track and distorted solo over the top. For that setup i think you'd need to go through an effects loop. Not included on the MK2 50, only the 100.
@skinnyfingerz5890
5 жыл бұрын
@@MrAquatoad yes exactly. So the 50 still doesn't have an fx loop. For a looper. Better still it should have a loop pedal built in since it already has so almost every other boss pedal built in.
