FROM is what every company should strive to be like. I am 54 and seen a lot of really good gaming companies come and go over the years. Look at Blizzard now. They used to be highly respected, pre-WoW, and that was like 20+ years ago. Then all of the good people left and the company is crap now. Like anything else it always starts at the top. People should really be loving these games right now, it could all change very quickly. Miyazaki saying he feels like he hasn't made his perfect RPG yet makes me smile. That tells me FROM is going to continue to make a lot of really awesome games. I am very happy for FROM, they certainly deserve the credit they are getting these days. It's funny he mentions DS1 and BB, those are my two very favorite FROM games. These are really special games and I am happy a lot of people have been going back and playing the souls games before ER came out. I tried telling people, but they were all like "No, I heard it was too hard." "Did you try it?" "No, I read about it." Don't believe everything you read. ;) True story: when I played DS1 back in 2011 I got stuck at the Gaping Dragon (yeah I know, crazy right?) This was back when souls games were kinda new. Anyways, I was so upset that I could not get passed it my eyes were literally welling up in tears I loved the game so much. Well, I kept trying and I finally beat that sucker and was just so elated. I have not looked back. I'm a souls veteran now and I kind of laugh telling that because the games are so much more advanced now. These are just very special games. Thank you FROM.

The longer a gaming company lasts, the more time it is for them to stumble. Whether they recover from those stumbles is a matter for them to solve, but a lot of companies that made beloved games and franchises eventually failed to recover. Or they become too big too fast, which is what happened to Blizzard due to WoW's shocking success. There is a reason why the games considered the best by gamers tend to not be done by larger gaming companies, even if a larger company ends up being the one that releases it due to having name brand recognition and marketing clout. Those that consistently make good games do so due to the fact that they are aware that they can fail and pretty much go as if that will be the LAST game they make, so they better make it as good and memorable as they can.

@@penitentestudios1492 Dark Souls II wasn't even originally Miyazaki's project. He was brought in late to salvage it into something playable, and to be fair, he managed that. Dark Souls II is... problematic, but you can tell from the DLCs what they were intending (the DLCs are much better than the base game), as the DLCs were originally intended to be a part of the base game. I like to tell people that Dark Souls II is what happens when you get too ambitious in your project and if you wanted to know what scale they wanted Dark Souls II to be at, look at Elden Ring and scale it down about half. Too ambitious and it bit them in the ass hard during development.

Fromsoft really reminds me of Rockstar games as a company. Like them they add something good to their existing mechanics and evolve for the future. Every game they made add something missing from the previous one and succeed it. They added power stance in DS2 and it was a success, they added in weapon arts and it was a success, they added deflect to formula in Sekiro and it was a success. At the end they combined every good aspect in Elden Ring with huge open map, evolve weapon arts to changeable ashes of wars and evolve the exploration feeling even further. So if anything I would be so hopeful and excited for their next game. They always get better while doing new things. One proof of that is DLCs always better than their main games. Fresh work from Fromsoft is just something to look for imo.

I hope it is Sekiro 2, the size of Elden Ring. .. but we get more than the 1 one sword.

Kings Field 2! Yes! I think it's one of the best games Fromsoftware has ever made.

I actualy had this idea if fromsoft made a dark souls pvp game, because the PVP can be good, not entirely in elden ring because of the overpowered builds but in a game designed around pvp, this could be really cool

This absolute mad man makes one of the best games of the decade then turns around and says, “nah, I can do better.” I love this guy and I can’t wait for what comes next.

I completely believe 100% that if it came down to it, Miyazaki would take a pay cut in order to keep all of his people there. Their games are only going to keep getting better. FromSoftware is the one game company that when a new game is releasing, I KNOW it's going to be damn good

That supposed leaked magic game it would be cool if the main castle area has a dense deep labyrinth that shifts over time. Making it an unpredictable short of game that relies on exploration and remembering landmarks of sorts to navigate the area.

Elden ring reminds me of fallout 4. I loved that game and Elden ring brought it to a new level. The only real thing left is more dialogue, npc interactions and more detailed and nuanced game endings. PVP can also be improved.

My employer, NVIDIA, has the same ethos as From: people who are concerned about losing their jobs cannot focus on doing their best work. I love it here, and now NVIDIA is the world's most valuable company -- so there might just be something to this ethos. Other companies should take notice.

So many of my questions were answered in this interview. Fromsoft is the only developer that I have trust in these days. I have played FSsoft games since ps1. They have never left a shred of disappointment

I imagine crafting and magic being a bigger part would make it more perfect. I only really had to actually look for those blood boluses ingredients for blood loss Also seamless coop and local 4 play coop would be absolutely nut worthy

Elden Ring is undoubtedly a masterpiece. But I feel it lacks the same replay value of dark souls 1 and 3, or the world of bloodborne. Whatever they make next, it's going to be amazing no doubt. But if I could choose, I hope it's something with the same world connectivity as DS1, and the same feel as bloodborne.

I wonder when Fromsoftware will develop a PS5 exclusive reminiscent of Demon's Souls and Bloodborne. That would be very interesting

Imagine an open world like elden ring but blood borne 2. That could be the greatest game ever made and could be ever made.

I bought Elden Ring after getting AC6 platinum. I even pass on buying Elden Ring early last year and boght Hogwarts instead lol. Then I was looking what other games FROM, the creators of Armored Core have done and I see Elden... wtf. I was always looking for another AC game. So it so happened that Elden Ring had a discount and I just bought it right there and have played it more than AC6 by x3 in time.
