I don’t care about the markups. We know it comes with the name brands everywhere. I have an issue with the modern day slavery that’s happening and people being treated like garbage in order for owners to make their millions. I’m also not down with all the waste that goes on with these brands because we all know they ain’t selling every single piece that they produce now that luxury is like fast fashion. Where does the excess inventory really go? I’m sure they’re not donating or recycling. There’s a lot that has me thinking now a days.

I’ve been stirring away from Luxury since the pandemic. I used to buy bags or luxury items every other month. Since the pandemic I get 1 item a year, if that! We keep buying them for instant gratification to let them sit in our closet. I haven’t worn 90% of my stuff. That money could have been in my savings, buying property and investing! I am being more cautious before buying and stop impulsive buying.

I think all of the luxury brands have some kind of shady things going on. I glad you did not just call out Dior as some people are doing. Like you said we need to dig deeper in all luxury brands. I love your Dior Saddle bag.

This main issue is not the markups. It’s how the people are being treating that’s making the bags. I think that was the main issue in the article about Dior.

I got my Chanel’s and LV handbags. I just purchased a Gucci that I use. I am no longer buying bags frequently. My husband convinced me to stop and use handbags that I haven’t used in my closet. My next purchase will be the speedy 20 trunk but that’s it. Dior never appeased me. 🤷🏻♀️

I have no issue with coated canvas, it has it's place in my collection and I enjoy using it a lot. it lasts forever for me. Leather is not the only luxury option imho. I don't even care how much of a profit margin companies make. If I don't like their price, I can buy something else. Poor labour practices, however, are a different story. I hate how much of my life is likely comprised of stuff made in sketchy conditions - i'm talking my fridge, stove, floors, phone, etc. I honestly don't know how to avoid it and if i could find truly ethical options I would pay a hefty premium. As far as I can tell, the only way I can practically live this value is to reduce my purchasing/consumption overall.

The issue isn’t coated canvas; My collection is 85% canvas handbags. My issue is selling a handbag for triple the profit and mistreating children, horrible work environment and hardly paying them. You have to read the entire article. I just found this out about Dior. Doing my own research on the other brands as well. I am a business owner so profit is a part of business, but I treat my employees VERY VERY well. They are paid before I direct deposit anything into my account

I completely understand why people are upset. However, how many people are upset about how rare earth minerals are mined in Africa? There are toddlers digging up cobalt so that we may have smart phones. Yet we are willing to pay from 800-2000 for smart phones.

Luxury goods last the of time, cost per wear is what really matters as it relates to value. These mid brands are not impressive at all. Like any other purchase of a sizeable amount the decision should be very intentional, spend on what your little heart desires ❤ my LV collection has held up for years (like new condition) theres something special in that plastic because I can put a handbag thru some stuff 😊

My issue is if it actually only costs $57, that equates to child slave or just slave/extremely exploited laborers. I really am not ok with that. This was the entire argument why we don’t purchase fakes! There is no way they can make a bag for $57 without the use of slave/extremely exploited laborers. That’s just gross to me!

For a person to think, let alone believe, that Anything they are purchasing from a conglomerate such as LVMH, Kering, Walmart, Costco and thier equivalants does not not have some form of exploitation around the production or purchase of the goods they sell, are deluded. People no longer buy eggs and milk from the farmer direct, nor thier bread from the nieghbourhood baker or meat from the butcher down the block. Let alone fuel from the independant service station. We are all culpable of allowing massive corporations to get a monopoly on services, for own comfort and convenience.

I was never into owning luxury brands until I discovered dupes and dhG. All of it is made in China anyways. Use those thousands to buy stock instead. And I like fantasy pieces. Dupes with upgrades the authentic peices should have had. Im so glad the hype was missed by me.

I was thinking, are kids really creating and sewing these bags? Kids in sweatshops? I mean some of the bags I've seen is immaculate I don't see how they can do such N awesome job? Just throwing it out there. Sometimes I wonder if luxe companies tell us this so we continue to pay $5k for a bag vs a replica for $200 or so as they LOOK THE SAME! What do you guys think really? Just curious.❤

Most brands and businesses do this but the part about the sweatshops and children and the abuse of workers will never sit right with us who cares about human beings being treated with decency. Plus the overall quality of LV and other brands like Chanel has fallen off significantly over the years. I remember being in high school, excited to purchase Chanel and LV only to face the reality of cracking canvas and chopping hardware….
