"For three ounces of booze, it doesn't drink like it." I always think that too, and then I try to get up out off the barstool a half hour later haha! Great stuff man, I love your videos. My personal favorite Planter's Punch has until recently been the "Funky Planter's Punch", which is basically the SC spec but with 3oz of either Doctor Bird or Hamilton Pot Still Black. That funk really comes through and I love that. BUT... I recently made a batch of the Appleton Punch clone rum blend you outlined in a previous video, and a PP with that blend is now hands-down my favorite, it's just amazing. Coincidentally enough I made one this evening before I checked and found your video, so what a perfect marriage of a real drink and some virtual ones! Thanks for the work you put in! Cheers and mahalo.

Well that was quite fun 😂. I knew exactly how the outcome would be including your wanting to dial back the sweetness a little when using the Demerara syrup 😂. As always MAHALO ! and now I’m thirsty.

Great video and I really enjoyed the introduction. I was guessing the Smuggler's Cove was best just by the ingredients. I do think you are right about the 12 being part of the sweetness. I usually use Appleton Signature for my Mai Tai and right after having one I made another the exact same way but with 12 and it was sweeter. I really like demara syrup too. I use it in anything that calls for simple syrup as well for the extra flavor and infuse it with spices as well. CHEERS!

Thank you for the video. I really like that you told us about the sweetness of the syrups in the description. I think every channel should do this in every video. That said, many of the more casual viewers probably dont know what brix means. Maybe 1:1 or 2:1 by weight would be better?

Using Appleton Estate 12 years it´s kind of cheating though.... Great video, as always!

@@MixingUpTiki well, while all those are great rums, and I love Coruba as a mixing rum. AE 12 is one or two categories above the others. The cost of that drink is probably almost twice the cost of the others

According to Smuggler’s Cove it fits the category of aged blended rum so I don’t feel like it’s cheating.

@@MixingUpTiki Stephen remsberg. Even if he’s a Rum maniac like come on you’ll be able to nail a sour pretty quick with whatever Rum varietal you so see fit. Since it’s Coruba it’s a little more like what?
