very good explanation for the easily confused but somewhat similar.

Oregon local , I so wish I had others that shared in my excitement in this hobby . Learning more each day from your channel ! As always your style of free form is both educational and highly entertaining! You simply do not get enough credit for the level of editing that goes into this , I do video editing myself and it is not no simple task , and is extremely time consuming . Thank you .

Thanks for your video. I have a collection of old Bogen tube integrated amps; db20’s, db230’s and also their 6V6 10 watt integrated. I have to say those little 6V6’s produce prodigious base for their size and wattage with the right speakers. I’m not a tech like you but I love playing with these old babies of mine. Why Bogen? Because all the Fishers, Scott’s and Dynacos were so expensive on eBay and not even working. Anyway it’s a fun hobby and keep the videos coming.

I have a Yamaha CR-1020 receiver that I love, which was professionally recapped a few years back, but I bought an amp from a customer recently that I’ve been curious about. So, a few days ago, I hooked up the Adcom GFA-545 amp in the preout or it of my Yamaha and wow. Just wow. Significantly better detail, separation and punch. I really didn’t want another piece of gear in my system, but I’m hooked.

Great stuff! Trying to get into tube separates but it’s a tad expensive… Even for the vintage gear i come across…Oh well, one day ! Keep it up !

Dr. Matti Otala said that the use of negative feedback does indeed reduce total harmonic distortion or THD. He also said that too much negative feedback would cause transient intermodulation distortion IMD which is more objectionable and audible at lower percentages than THD. He said the less negative feedback the better. I like integrated amps because the impedance matching and gain matching is done for me and I don't need $1000.00 cables to connect separates.

I have been using and collecting separates since I sold my Marantz 2270 back in 1978. My first pair was the GAS Son of Ampzilla ($430) amp and the AGI 511 preamp ($420) - bought new from my local hifi store in Connecticut.

Speakers used were a store-demo pair of Infinity Monitor 1A's ($450) then about a year later a new pair of DCM Time Windows ($600). Sold the Infinity's to a friend from work for $250. He bought a used Sansui blackface integrated amp to drive the Infinity's. This was in 1978.

Awesome video! The first time I used a tube preamp (Dynaco PAS) I was blown away. It is capable of outputting 2 volts with tubes and circuitry running in spec. I have two PAS 3X, and my brother has one. Two of them running vinyl systems (Emotiva amp & a Dynaco ST-70 series II) and one on a computer streaming system. All sound absolutely wonderful and bring their main amps to life. They feature that same rotary switching system, to me they are flawless and I actually love their EQ abilities for bass and treble. It colors the sound in a wonderful way.

About six years ago I bought from a Georgia highfi dealer an Audio Research SP6 preamp and a D75 tube amp for $1300 total. This I consider to be an excellent price and a relative bargain!

Expanded my knowledge? Ya, thanks, I think so..................................... I've always said, "Every integrated should have 'pre-outs' & 'main-ins'", but now with the negative feedback knowledge, I think I understand why most don't or cannot. Very interesting & an outstanding narrative. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊

I meant to say I understand about the two Vault thing yeah I noticed that for years have a great day I was 10 years old my uncle gave me his stereo it was a stronger Carlson AM FM tube receiver that had a turntable and a really the speakers were Oak Corner speakers if 15 in Western Electric drivers with horns they were fantastic but when I turn 16 I wanted a Camaro I traded the stereo for the Camaro seems like a good trade at the time and of course nowadays it is but I really miss that sound have a great day I'm 69 years old I'm going to try to fix stereos as long as I can have fun keep on listening to records records aren't your friend when you have to move them but I still love them

Integrated/AVR's rarely, if ever have solid enough current and stability to drive 4 ohms or lower impedance dips. (no, I'm not talking simple 2 way efficient horns) They also tend to cut corners with cheap caps, opamps and other bargain parts.

Verry interesting ; I'm shore I would rather listen to some of your amps etc. than fancy solid state stuff. I have a Prima Luna integrated amp, and I have just started tube rolling I have 6L6GC in place of the EL34's and yesterday I ordered two general electric 5751's to replace the 12AX7's . I am hoping for three things from you .1 can you give a simple guide to the different roles rectifiers' ,power valves' etc perform? 2 eventually my next experiment will be to replace the 12AU7's do you have any recommendations? particularly as my third query is that I hear that 5751's have a higher output(?) than 12AX7's and I'm hoping I have not made a mistake, as I don't really know haw they combine etc? Yours, a grateful subscriber.

Finally someone sane in this genre. Cheers brother, like your straight to the point thoughts. Many others are acting like infantile clown, while talking about HiFi. Impossible to listen.

Try British amplifiers. Small and super strong. Like Cyrus 8 VS 2 +PSX-R. Forget about that smelly, messy, old, boxy, ugly, mass produced, vintage garbage. Discover the real HiFi.✌️
