May and might : requests, permission, suggestions, and possibility. I use more "May" than "Might" and I just learned that might is more formal, and both of them are used to say that you are not sure about something. May 55% about possibility. Might about 50% possibility. Thanks again, Mike. You're the best.😊😊

Very nice and well explained lesson, as always! The topic is interesting and gave us tips, when we should use "may" or "might" for proper description of the possibility of some event. When we are talking about past, we should use "might", although some people use also "may" nowadays. If we are talking about present, we should use "may". Usually we use "may" when probability is above 55 %, and we use "might" when probability is below 50 %. Thanks a lot, Teacher, for valuable video!

I say it in a good way, when I lived in Houston and was in middle school, I came to the U.S. without knowing English. The government had a program called 'NAC' within schools with the goal of reaching a C1-2 level from scratch in just 9 months, without grammatical formulas, but understanding English from real contexts to stop translating into our native language. Grammar rules were learned through general culture, but we were told that if we asked an American about modal verbs, they wouldn't know how to answer and wouldn't know what they are. That's why learning grammar rules is for having cultural knowledge of the language but doesn't serve you for everyday life using a certain language. Although I returned to live in my native country Ecuador, and due to a lack of practice outside the English language environment, my ear to the language has closed, and I have forgotten certain things. However, watching these types of videos, I can say from experience that they do serve for real English.@@TeacherMikeEnglish

Thank you very much.🙏🙏🙏 I don't really want to teach grammar through explanations the way that I do in some of these videos, but I know that many learners appreciate it.

A question, teacher Mike!. In this phrase: She can't understand English and nor can she speak it... can she instead of saying she can... is it simply for an emphasis in that she really can't speak it,right?

@@TeacherMikeEnglish Yeah,I got it and I know that if I study harder I may implement it better and I know that although I told you that tomorrow it might start raining here really that means a lower possibility to start raining that saying: it may start raining here but like nobody knows what will happen either seems so bad said with might that phrase 😂
