I’m more than likely in the slower swing speed category at my age but I’ve been playing Maxfli golf balls for a long time now and have been playing the tours for a good 2 years now. Good ball for a good value.

After watching this video, I went out and bought the Maxfli Tour. The Maxfli Tour was rated #1 for mid speed, and my driver speed is 92-95 mph. I’ve been searching for a gamer ball for the past two years, and just couldn’t find a ball that suits me. I’d been going back and forth between the TM tour response, and the Srixon z-star divide and q-star tour divides. I usually shoot mid-80’s, but played my first round with the Maxfli Tour today. One ball lasted the whole round, although I did notice it took a little damage on the first hole’s sand trap. Still played it, and played it well. Shot a 78. Feels very soft off the driver, like it seriously feels like it’s flattening out like a pancake. But I love the way it springs off the face of the club. Mid irons released on the greens more than I’d like, but still playable. Chips were fantastic, you could really get after it and park it tight within putting distance. Putting for me felt great. I like a soft feeling ball and this one I felt it could strike it and not worry about zooming it 6 feet passed the hole. At $104 for 48 balls, this may be my new gamer.

As someone who falls into the 105+ club head speed, the supersoft is too soft and compresses too much for me. My preferred ball is the Maxfli tour or srixon z star xv. But for someone who has a slow or mid swing speed, the callaway supersoft make great affordable balls.

I have been fit for golf balls by both Titleist and Bridgestone in the past. Bottom line, I have been playing the AVX for the last two years.......until I discovered the Left Dash about a month ago and fell in love with the ball and now your testing confirms what I have been finding on the course. The only problem? I live in Florida and I cannot find the Left Dash in any store......I can only buy it online. I hope your testing lights a fire in Titleist and motivates them to get the ball in retail stores.

Never been fitted for a golf ball. But I used your recent golf ball testing to narrow down the choice of balls to hit based on my 110 mph driver speed. I used my Swing Caddy SC300i at home out doors. The device is fairly adequate for the test and the numbers were consistent. The Snell MTBX was the best fit for me and it still performs great on the course. Now that I own the Garmin R10 I’ll perform the test again and use balls from this video. The Snell balls are extremely consistent and I never find myself questioning the carry distance. Great video!! I've not been fit for a golf ball, but have experiment with dozens of brands. 1 year post double knee replacement my swing has changed and I lost a ton of speed and distance. Even still I've dropped my handicap 5 stroke and holding at 8.2. If I could get back to average of at least 250yds with driver I think I could get myself in better scoring zone. Still happy I'm back to single digit handicap in over 20 years.

Keep in mind this data pertains only to 36 urethane covered golf balls, and a Pinnacle Range ball all from their August 2021 ball test. So only one non urethane ball was tested, and it was a ball designed for durability and use at commercial driving ranges. I know that my golf spy believes that almost all golfers should use a urethane ball for the increase in green side spin. But many golfers already hit the ball high enough to stop the ball on iron shots and play courses with greens that are well watered. So now the urethane cover is only an advantage on a shot sided pitch shot for those golfers. So, if a ionomer or Surlyn covered ball reduced a little spin on the driver, allowing for a little more aerodynamic long shot with greater carry, reduced curvature due to reduced spin, and perhaps slightly longer run out of the ball, and those combined to be even just ten more yards, wouldn’t most golfers who hit the driver less than say 240 yards, who don’t routinely reach 500 yard par fives in two shots and would now be able to hit one less club into par fours and maybe even one less club into every green, benefit from hitting one less club and being a little more accurate with say their six iron as opposed to their five iron? On par fives, with two shots leading up to the third shot into the green, they may be hitting two less clubs into the green. Hey my golf spy, how about next time you bring in five or six of the best ionimer golf balls into the test so we can see how they compete on distance, even if they don’t compete as well on spin. Titleist Velocity, TaylorMade Distance, and a few others, please.

Got fitted through the titleist zoom call chat for a AVX from a ProV1 I was playing. First round and a noticed drop in apex and spin on the driver, much better flight - especially on the windy day we played. Distanced on Arccos showed a jump by 20+yards on drives. Short game didn’t suffer with the less spin either, so win win. Definitely worth the 20min fit!

Great video--central to this is knowing your swing speed ! Have not found on line ball fitting very helpful because it is not brand agnostic. By knowing my swing speed (depending on the day, 85-95 mph on the cusp of low and mid), as well as on course trial and error, I have concluded for me at least, that the Titleist Tour Speed and the Maxfli Tour CG offer the longest distance, best feel and spin, and best VALUE !!!

In the Spring, Summer and Fall of '21 and '22 same thing. 2023 is when I started playing more. Once about every two weeks, sometimes twice in one week, sometimes on the in between weeks I play with my boys. I had heard about getting for a ball, but I figured, figuring out what I was doing wrong with my swing was more important. I did a swing evaluation at Golf Techand have been working on my consistency. I might give the a ring and see if they do the ball fitting as well.

Every year you need to retest last years winners... to ensure the consistency of your tests over time. That is, if last years' balls test differently in the current year, then you've got a problem to resolve. For example, the Snell MTB-X ball is now nowhere to be found? Why - all the others improved, the MTB-X regressed or your testing changed?

Great review of the longest golf balls based on swing speed.. Like your non biased reviews and thanks for the tips on getting fit for the right golf ball based on my game and swing speed.

getting fit for titleist irons the rep said I need to play the prov1X because I'm a low ball hitter and after hitting a few it helped my carry

Great info, haven't been fit, but have been playing the top two in the mid swing speed category, and have to agree. Both of them have helped me bring down my score, by hitting them further (and straighter!!)

Looking at all the data (as a 20hc who started last summer) I'm pretty happy with my Kirkland balls. Until I get to the point where I'm not losing more than 2-3 balls a round I think I'll stick with saving some money for more rounds.

I started playing the Taylormade Tour Response after the "Best Golf Balls - 2021" article came out. I compared the balls and the pricing and said that I was willing to be 4 yards less than the top distance ball for the driver for slow swing players (236.45 v. 232.56 yards) if the pricing is $10 less per dozen. I know that iron distance doesn't mean as much. You select your club based on the distance you desire to hit. However, for iron distance the Taylormade Tour Response was number 3 for slow swing players. I can't wait to see the "Best Golf Balls - 2022" complete report with all of the information especially since the 2022 Taylormade Tour Response is different from last year's Tour Response.

Wait. Is it a coincidence that the numbers for the slow swing distances for the KZitem video match the distances from the 2021 report?
