@@dysfunctional4694 it's not so easy like it seems to be. Look at the lakers game. They tried to bring the ball below (james even played in lowpost for quite some time) but houston played a very aggressiv and fast double-team rotation. They double-teamed every single time and did a great help defense. In the end the Lakers could only score using the verticality but not quite often enough. On the other hand houston stretches the court the whole game. They barely had someone in lowpost or deeper, so there was so much space for penetration. We will see how it works out.

NavidErde yeah, thats where kobe and jordan excels posting in the paint, driving inside the paint and fish a foul. thats why those 2 kobe and jordan arguably are the best closer in the game. its jordan's killer instinct and kobe's mamba mentality. they either win the game or lose the game. unlike lebron when he lose, i need help. i dont have help. when he wins its all on him. the self proclaimed king is actually the queen. the drama queen 😂😂😂😂😂

This was something that james johnson ran a really nice 2-man game with Wayne Ellington a few years back. Wayne ellington was a monster at scoring immediately after turning the corner on a DHO screen, but Johnson every now and then would fake the handoff and take it to the rim himself, usually with little in the way between himself and the rim

Teams which run a motion offense based upon a point center or point 4 can be so fun to watch. Iggy will help their fast break/ early offense because on top of his playmaking abilities, he's good at pushing the ball harder upon a rebound or turnover, forcing his teammates to run harder to keep up (that's what happened on the warriors) Thx for eventually getting around to a Heat offense breakdown!

Maybe in a year or two but Adebayo is such a swiss army knife of a player he is good at everything in the game except 3 pointers, other than that his offensive game is perfect, and if he's not at least second team all defense I'd be surprised. Duncan is lights out for sure but Bam is more integral to the core of their team.

Gtfo. Duncan is rare? You can find shooters anywhere and essentially every team in the NBA has them. But Bam? He is the rare one. A big able to guard 1-5, create his own shot, AND play-make> He is perfect for the modern NBA. He's essentially Jokic in the body of PG13.
@tiniestmite8145

@@brownfood5365 Lol chill out. What Duncan was doing before the virus hit was historical. As in nobody in Heat history, or NBA history (with some stats), had done what he did. That's not just rare, it's quite literally never happened before, so there's a pretty strong argument that not every team has a Duncan Robinson, ever. Bam is a deserving all-star, and I will agree with you on two things: he can guard 1-5, and play-make. Where you're wrong is that he cannot "create his own shot" yet. The Heat almost never put Bam in an isolation scenario and hope he can get a bucket, there is always action around him. In fact, many of his own unassisted plays come off of Duncan's historical gravity of drawing defenders off the ball.
@brownfood5365

@@tiniestmite8145 Yes but only considering after Duncan's unlikely rise as an NBA player. Yes he set franchise records but you can find sharpshooters anywhere, and then just put them in place into the Heat's system. Bam can create his own shot it's just he's not that good at it and doesn't attempt it too much but he can. As for Duncan more than half his three pointers come off a dibble hand off by Bam.

I never get to watch too much basketball with no TV service but thank you for showing what good a center can be without 3s. You see in a lot of those screens, Bam's man is down in the paint even with a guy like Robinson receiving the handoff. So immediately a good screen by a good center can get you a great look. Honestly I thought Bam was overrated, but I'll admit that's horribly wrong. Granted I can't watch games a lot, but he definitely runs that offense well and proves how you can still be effective without standing outside the 3pt line lazily all game.

Great insight Coach. I think James Johnson may be employed the same way as he was in Miami with the Wolves as they are in the same range of teams with high frequency running DHOs. Sadly the Wolves personnel is a little inconsistent for it but KAT as the big screener and primary 3-ball threat is the main draw. Along with seeing how Culver, Malik Beasley and DLo could do with it. But yeah the Heat have big men with solid handles who can screen and make quick reads (outside of Leonard) to get it to their shooters. Also Coach regarding teams trying to succeed with DHOs, peep some of the teams who were making the bigger moves in the trade deadline. Many of them are on top of the DHO frequency range. They may not be as efficient as Miami but they have the personnel to work their own unique wrinkles.

The Warriors during their recent championship run did not run DHO's as frequently. It makes sense because when you have midrange wing shooting option with Durant to go with Steph and Klay, you work off that talent. Durant goes away, injuries happen to their best shooters so Warriors double down on what they know best and it shows in the team stats as they are 4th in team DHOs in frequency this year. And probably moving forward.

Bam's handles and quickness make him enough of a threat to be a cutter who can get to the hoop. His vision and playmaking is what adds value because if defenses work on denying the DHO, he can change it up attack to hoop to draw defenders and make the pass. There aren't many 5s in the league who do that.
