I figured it was a bass spec amp of some sort. That 3 stage setup seemed like one of the black/silver face Fender Bassman’s. I had no idea Marshall did that in the JMP’s. That’s good to know!

You could make a pretty good argument that tweed Bassmans with the cathode follower sounded better than the BF plate coupled Bassmans for bass, at best it's a toss up, horses for courses, any serious bass player back them would have had an Ampeg anyway 🙂Odd Marshall would waste time copying the BF, the filter cap rewiring is senseless if not wrong and seems pretty sloppy for factory work, I really wonder it came from the factory, maybe a moonlighting worker or authorized tech accommodating a persnickety bassist. The before/after from the start of pt 1 is textbook, even over youtube it's clear as day, the owner didn't waste his money, nice work.
