I think the word “toxic” is so overused. It’s everywhere. It’s all just a judgmental word. Which is the opposite of what DBT (the official BPD treatment modality) wants you to learn- they don’t say toxic or positive or good or bad. They say EFFECTIVE OR NOT EFFECTIVE. Try not to get hooked on to traits and labels. I have found it so unhelpful to my BPD recovery. And remember, None of us our just our “traits.” Toxic or positive. And this is universal! Not just a BPD thing. All people. Remember, BPD is characterized by maladaptive behaviors - which can be changed to become EFFECTIVE.
@marcusnielson5487

DBT isn't the official treatment modality. Don't get me wrong, I love DBT, but there are other ways to treat BPD. "Toxic" in DBT terms wouldn't "ineffective" in my opinion. It would be "unhealthy for myself and others around me" - "toxic" is just easier to say lol
@bpdwoman2564

@@marcusnielson5487 Hi Marcus. I’m glad you found many different treatment options, however DBT is the official treatment modality for BPD. and most notably, the only one that’s proven effective within the treatment of borderline . Dr. Fox also relies heavily on this in his borderline treatment book. It was designed in 1993 by Dr. Marsha Linehan, who herself has lived with /managed the disorder. It is the only treatment that has proven effective for the treatment and recession of maladaptive BPD behaviors. There are plenty of articles and studies on this, you’re welcome to read them. But if recovering from BPD is your goal, then you’ll be doing a self a huge disservice by not enrolling yourself in multiple rounds of DBT. These are the facts.

@@bpdwoman2564 you misunderstand (which I could have predicted). I have DBT - twice. And actually met Marsha. I don't need a history lesson on DBT - I'm quite familiar with it. You are correct - DBT is considered the "gold standard" of BPD treatment. Honestly it's the only thing that has helped me, formal treatment wise. Although I have gotten better without formal treatment. What I disagree with is the word "official". There is no "official" treatment of anything. That is like saying prozac is the "official" anti-depressant for depression. Dr. Fox may use many DBT elements he doesn't use official DBT. Lots of things *may* BPD - not to the extent of DBT (hypnotherapy, traditional therapy, ACT etc etc). I think this way of thinking is dangerous because what if someone with BPD isn't helped by DBT? Are they just effed because the "official" treatment didn't work and nothing else does?

@@marcusnielson5487 Jeez, Marcus I’m sorry you are so reactive and angry and confrontational. “ you could have predicted.” ? Huh? Also, I’m still waiting for what these other tried-and-true peer reviewed effective measures of treatment are. Hypnotherapy? Are you serious? I might suggest looking at adding anger management to your treatment. Or do another several rounds of DBT. Two is honestly the minimum that is required / suggested. I’ve done about six. You don’t need a history lesson? Huh? Marcus, you’re the one who started this debate on DBT. Which you then proceeded to debate my point on, but now in this poster agreeing with. So which is it? My comment, if you were paying attention, was not to focus on reactive words like “toxic or bad.” You’ve decided to respond is some thing that was never even at the heart of my original posting-But that’s OK, I’m happy to address that. Are you sure you’ve gotten better? By what metric are you judging this by ?You’re seemingly attacking me and suggesting a.k.a. mind reading that you could’ve predicted what my response would’ve been. Do you think that in mind reading and passive aggressive posting is considered “effective.”? Mind reading is discussed at length in interpersonal effectiveness and other cognitive distortions, which I would suggest you may wanna look into. I just discovered that I have a 4th personality. I like her the best. She is the positive one that has helped the others on my journey to be more mentally healthy and balanced. She builds up the scared, traumatized, insecure one, humbles the belligerent, selfish, brings light to the dark sided personality. She has been there for a while I just didn't know she was seperate from one of my personalities. She incorporates the good qualities from my personalities of all my mixed up self. She helps the others accept the truth of life's realities good and bad. She is now the leader of them all. I believe this will be a pivotal positive change.

I forgot I commented here. Since that time I have a sense that the real and basic self , that feels weak and broken, has taken the lead. I like this because the beleif system that shaped the other personalities can be blended and balanced and head towards mentally healthy life. I know this because even the weak and broken self is a lot stronger than the dangerous and self destructive one that has been a part of my life. That was an epiphany. To realize the weak and broken self is stronger than the one that I beleived was very powerful helped me see the inner strength that has helped me cope in a dysfunctional parts of my life.

When a relationship ends and someone leaves me I take it as validation that I'm worthless. It keeps me attached to people even if they're not good for me. Their choice to leave me and no longer have me in their life makes me feel like I don't exist. I can logically see evidence that I'm not a worthless person but emotionally I still feel worthless. Your videos are great. They have helped me understand myself better. But I’m fighting a losing battle. I faked my way through life and somehow made it to 44. I’m falling apart. I don’t have a support system and guys my age are expected to have their shit together or the money to fix whatever is wrong. Thirty minutes of therapy once a week with a therapist that wanted to focus on trauma left me dealing with some horrible stuff on my own until the next session. I’m going to lose everything and it’s by my own hand. I can’t help myself because part of me wants to destroy myself and force the rest of me to watch. I now spend more time in my thoughts than I do in reality. I’ve lost any identity I was clinging to and now it feels like I’m falling, waiting to die. I’m stuck and the world is going to roll over the top of me. What good is insight and self awareness if I can’t find my way to something less painful. Help, please. I don’t know how else to ask.

My boyfriend garbles up my good days. And puts it into a package with my bad days. And then says I’m always complaining and never happy. So I’m more confused than ever ...my good days mean nothing. Because he jumps to use this BPD against me. I am with an unsupportive partner. Work im ok. At home when I’m burned. Or miss communication. He leaves me there to figure it out and I start spinning. Then text bombing. He tells me I’m an adult and have to deal with myself. I’m not stupid. I have good days and bad like any one else. I asked him when we got back together “just explain. Just communicate to help me help myself”... I guess that’s not adult enough. Then what’s the point of having an partner if you can’t rely on them. Yes I’ve done empathy and see what the other sees. But when he ignores me. He doesn’t help. Just spits on me when I’m down

I thought about it, and the plesentries and pausing and all for like, 30 seconds, but then proceeded to make a KZitem video about their trash behavior and report them to the FBI, SEC, FTC, CA Labor Enforcement. You know how people say sometimes with BPD, one work will set them off... Well I believe that is misconstrued as best and false at worse. I don't think that one word set me off as they later published, it's that sometimes one character defining statement with confirm what the heart and mind where in dissonance of and prove concerns where we gave them benefit of the doubt where correct. I think "BPD and Narcissist" are the coping mechanisms of the unhealed masculine and feminine of emotional bypassing and being the love we didn't receive in hopes is reciprocated. Like our queen Tay Tay said; "I bury hatches but keep maps of where I put them; reputation precedes me, they told you I'm crazy but I swear I don't love the drama it loves me... So here's the truth from my red lips" 😘 But maybe I should book a session with you as I move back to Houston and not set fire to the rain everytime I'm displeased.

@@anglemoonlight8374 You have to look in the description. Next to the video title is a downward pointing triangle. Click on that, and a very long description opens up. I think what you are looking for is the second or third link.

I like Dr. Grande, but he's going down the entertainment venue. You're actively helping us unfamous people, who are legion. And female counselors are soothing, but they don't have the gravitas that male counselors do. Plus, more amazing for a man to be empathetic.
