I very much agree with the first part of this message. But I think the second part depends greatly on how you've lived your life so far. I always did 'helping people' jobs like reception, mentoring, teaching, tutoring. I also mentored refugees as a volunteer, and friends always came to me for advice, I felt like some kind of free therapist. I ended up with burn out. Then when I needed help, these friends were long gone. I think it's about finding balance. We can only help others if we are standing on our own two feet, caring for ourselves first. A lot of people are selfish and out for themselves, if you help them, they will take your help and leave. Boundaries and protecting ourselves are essential.

I have spent most of my time on this planet focused on other people, and doing everything in my power to help them. I have always treated everyone around me with the utmost kindness and compassion. I have always shown the people in my life complete and total unconditional love and acceptance. It has always come quite naturally to really be good to the people in my life. The problem is that I absolutely NEVER treated myself with the same kindness and compassion that I found it so easy to show others. While I was treating others with unconditional love and acceptance, I was treating myself with utter cruelty and contempt, completely consumed with self hatred and self loathing. While I was performing acts of kindness for others, I was absolutely abusing myself in every conceivable way. It wasn’t until much later in my life that I learned that this ability to be so good to others and so cruel to myself, is a very common trait among survivors of severe childhood abuse. In my case, unrelenting physical, verbal and sexual abuse. I have now been in recovery from these horrors for 20 years now. And one thing I have learned is that it is impossible to treat others with true kindness, compassion and love, unless you are already showing yourself that same kindness, compassion and love. You have to be able to give it to yourself before you can give it to others. So perhaps your message here is quite helpful for those who have never experienced severe childhood trauma, but it is absolutely poisonous to people like me. I have spent the last 20 years of my life trying to learn how to focus on myself and what I need to do to care for myself and be good to myself. I have spent the last 20 years of my life trying to show myself even a modicum of self acceptance and self love. If I had not gotten the help that I needed, to learn to care for myself as well as I could care for others, I would not be here right now. So perhaps you have seen yourself or others as “victims” who were consumed with “self pity.” People who selfishly obsessed on their own needs and desires, while callously ignoring the people around them. But for me it has been the work of a lifetime to focus on my own well-being rather than exclusively on the well-being of others. And by the way, I do not pity myself nor do I see myself as a victim. And I have been through hell, my friend.

The first line made me laugh with recognition. Thank you. I would like to add, though, that although the video focuses on "supposed to's" regarding other people and the world, most of the "supposed to's" that create my unhappiness have to do with ME. For instance, "I'm supposed to feel better" or "I'm supposed to be more spiritually mature." It has to do with me, not others/world.

Very true words. To constantly think that there is something wrong with yourself and the world around you that needs to be fixed urgently before you can feel ok is the source of so much unhappiness. Yes, sometimes there are urgent things that needs to be fixed of course, but in general on should strive to feel that you are at peace as you are ande nothing needs to be fixed. In fact, that state is the best state to be in to actually get things fixed. Not from desperation, but from curiosity and interest.

What screws us up MOST in life is the wealthiest being greedy & refusing to pay their fair share. They take their freedom for granted, with no appreciation. I'm a permanently disabled veteran, who has been homeless for the past 30 years. "Each and every time that a human speaks, their thoughts are simultaneously BROADCAST in a much richer way than can be fit into words." No belief included, I simply remember before being taught verbal language. (mom later said I was not a year old) Our languages serve NO greater purpose than to enable dishonesty. The lies go back much farther than people today realize. The VAST majority of our homeless are disabled or elderly.

No matter what happens to you, good or bad, say OUT LOUD every morning, every evening and several times throughout your day, "I AM BLESSED, I AM GRATEFUL, and I AM THANKFUL." The great philosopher J. Krishnamurti said: “It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.” Let’s not victim blame people for being I’ll adjusted to a world that abuses and traumatizes them. It’s ok to be angry and bitter at a society that parasitizes you. In fact demonstrating those feelings in non violent ways, through protest, through worker strikes, through refusal to participate in systems that abuse people, are the only ways to change anything for the better. Perhaps this is why so many religions (yes Buddhism too) seek to place the blame within the individual. Because if you believe the problem is you, you will always spend all your time trying to correct yourself rather than pointing to where the real problems lie

The great prophet George Carlin said, "As you go along you come to realize something is very, very wrong with the way things are." This floored me because I can sense it too. I know our generation got screwed up because of film and television. Life was supposed to be like the movies. We were waiting for our movie to happen. Christmas was supposed to be a Hallmark miracle. True love was supposed to fall in place after a few merry mix ups! The Machiavellian villain never won. We waited and waited....or even worse, we tried to force it to happen. Talk about a shitstorm that brings about...yikes! Still, sometimes you have to believe in a greater good whether it's true or not. It's what keeps you hanging in there.

I think deep down many of us know life on the Earth plane is not suppose to be like this like something went terribly wrong, like really bad. I feel we betrayed the Divine. As a lightworker I have come as part of the light tribe to put things “right”. I am not sure what “right” means exactly, but certainly a kinder more loving place to be. There are so many of us changing in consciousness now that we know we are at last on the right path. Hail to the light!

@@nicholabrown11 I've thought about this quite a bit and I think the reason is fundamental rules that we just can't get away from. The first is, life feeds on life. There's no getting around it no matter how much we want to ignore it. You can't be vegan enough to circumvent the bloody horror going down to produce your food. Even the plants are trying to kill their neighbors. Its vicious competition on every level. Machiavelli was right. Might makes right. A Sociopath/Psychopath will flourish in this world. All the moral lessons you were taught to make you feel better are wrong. Money can buy happiness. Money can buy love. "And all your money won't another minute buy." Poppycock, a rich man with healthcare is going to live a lot longer than a poor man with malnutrition. Maybe we'll find out we really are living in a simulation and this can be changed but I don't know that. All I know is George Carlin was right. Something is very, very wrong with the way things are.

@@jeffreygleaves2931 thank you for sharing your thoughts. Spirit advised me that the Earth is what they call ‘active consciousness’, which is what as you say simulation. Even so, the balance between light and dark was not right for it work, there is too much darkness. My heart feels you, and I understand well how our personal daily experiences impact on our spiritual growth. It's much more challenging to make progress and find your way when you are faced with triggers frequently, and it's hard to get away from them. My life is a bit similar in that I have a lot of responsibilities and stressful circumstances that I'm dealing with frequently. I work hard at trying to carve out quiet time, even if it's late at night or very early in the morning, when I can meditate and pray free from any interference. That is the time when spirit speaks to me, helping me and guiding me and giving me strength and insights that help me to deal with it all. It's a journey, and the route can feel so difficult, even almost insurmountable at times. But I know for myself, I have never given up, And Spirit always comes to me with a new idea, approach, or way of looking at things that will help me make the next few miles. I pray you will be able to find a way!

I never really feel as though I'm helping anyone, but people often come to me to thank me for helping them!! I give, when I can and take part in life around me. I eat the apples and berries that grow around me and breathe the air after it rains with joy and gratitude. It's certainly absolutely no skin off my nose to collect bottle caps for the gal who collects them in order in order to donate to a child's hospiz. Eating breakfast with Ralf as he tells me about his health, his wife's troubles - listening intently and crying when necessary. I don't feel as though I'm helping him/them. I'm just listening and eating, which I'd do, anyway. Last time I was horrified to see his stooping quite a bit more than usual and his story - omg. When I got back to my hospital room, I told my nurse about the fellow across the way and I was very moved in looking out the window an hour later to see my nurse bringing Ralf a cup of coffee. What I'm trying to say is that there is something other than just giving and taking which comes in the realm of sharing. I share. We share What do we share? We share love - each as s/he can. Not as a duty or as an obligation but as a joy of being. Love.

First of all i would like to say that i love your videos, they have helped me alot and are very grounding. Thank you for the wisdom! After listening to the video. I kinda felt like a paradox... where i need to focus more on myself and I need to make the change. So to not think about others but to but the focus inwards and realize that im responsible fo r how im feeling. But on the other hand i should stop thinking about myself so much, I guess theres that balacne. I have for a very long time been very empathatic and i really cared for people, and that automatacly got me to people who had alot of problems. I sort of "gave myself away" and alot of the time i got something back... like they appricated my support. But after awhile i attracted the wrong people, who used and abused my empathy. So what i then had to learn was to focus on myself again, beacuse i tottaly had lost myself. For me this has acually been a hard journey. The whole thing about helping people that are in a lower state, is kinda impossible. For me there is this urge to help (which might be ego, that if i help them i maybe get help myself) But i think one has to learn that you can only help people that are ready for it. To stop thinking about "helping people" but to honesly only "help yourself" and then you will radite that state and show an examlple. In otherword, Think about yourself in a healthy way and think about others in healthy way
