I left my old church that I served for 6 years in college because I was not cared for by the leaders and had zero accountability and barely saw any of the members during the week, the church also had zero community groups during the week for fellowship. I barely knew my pastor and felt like he didnt care about me because he evidently showed little interest in me, I served on the worship team for 3 1/2 years. Its amazing how you can be serving publicly on stage and be invisible to the leadership. God provided a great church transition and community after college which was a God send. Praise God. Your spiritual health is everything. The Church of Jesus Christ is not shallow, yes it is broken but there is no excuse for Church leadership to not care for the spiritual health for its members.

A healthy church is a church without cliques. Also a church which believes in the finished work of Jesus Christ. What I mean is Jesus actually saved his people on the cross, most churches teach that Jesus only made it possible to be saved that you have to do good works also or else you can lose your eternal salvation. Jesus actually saved us on the cross, our good works save us from corruption in this life it has nothing to do with eternal salvation. Nothing but the blood of Jesus,

“Look past the music” is a great call. As a related question for anyone who can provide me with any links to related videos or resources… Why is modern Christian music so, for lack of a better word “bad”? I can appreciate trying to make a joyful noise and at church most people like myself are not trained musicians, but…. Even if we’re talking a production quality of infinity (e.g. Hillsong Churches), they just seem to crank out very schlocky music. It’s almost all one genre (slow contemporary) and none of it is catchy. We do not generate “earworms” type songs that get stuck in your head. It’s if we’re being honest kind of painful for most people to hear Christian music not because they hate the lyrics but because we are content to turn out really really lackluster sounds with which to praise the Lord. Meanwhile “Rockin’ Robin” that’s an innocent song, I don’t think it’s creator made some devilish pact to get the lyrics, etc…. And we don’t have anything on par except for maybe Spirit in the Sky but that was a while back. What musical quality makes Christian music so very not catchy? Why doesn’t it make people dance?

Greetings from Westwood Baptist Church in Nashville, Tennessee! 3:28 "You desperately need that--you need shepherds in your life." Yes! You cannot obey the commands to submit to elders if you're not a member of a local church. And you cannot obey the commands to love one another if you're not a member of a local church. You need the local church. If you claim to trust in Jesus but keep his bride at an arm's length, you're deceiving yourself and must repent.

I think a church should welcome all people! We shouldn’t label people as their sin but that doesn’t mean we should tolerate people’s sins and neither should churches spread the idea that staying in sin is ok as long as you have faith in Christ, when we come to Jesus we then find our identity in him. Everyone should be encouraged to believe in Jesus and then repent of our sins, but conviction comes from the Holy Spirit that lives within and through a close relationship with God, he will lead us in the right convictions to be able to repent and be more like Jesus. As far as a woman leading the church, Jesus says his word will never die, Paul then states that women shouldn’t be leaders of the church. Women and men have very important roles that are absolutely necessary to one another, but a woman is not called to be a lead pastor just like men aren’t called to give birth. God blessed each gender with individual important roles and we should uplift one another in those roles 🫶🏼
@donnanewby3386

Women should not usurp authority over men in the Church, so should not be teaching the congregation. Re welcoming gay people - everyone must be welcomed, but the truth must be Faithfully preached regardless of who is in the congregation, so that all may turn away from their sin (including any homosexual sin). Why? God has commanded all men [mankind] everywhere to repent. You can walk into a church as anyone.... but everyone must repent and trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ, and be confirmed to His likeness. Whatever sins we have, we must leave them behind, without exception. God is not partial, and nor should we be... all sin must go. There is a big difference to grieving or sin and fighting against it, and embracing it as part of identity or claiming a right to continue to do so.

Since you're asking John MacArthur what a healthy church is, I can't help but give my 2 cent. I attended a church in the Los Angeles County and we had church members who also attended John MacArthur's church plus we have had members of John's church visit our church. In the last 40 years, all these people have the same thing in common - they were all theology correct yet morally corrupt. They make fun of new believers who need help in correcting their theology. They are condescending towards people who don't understand scripture as well as they do. People who barely came to know to Christ need gentleness and compassion because they taking small baby steps in growing in their relationship with Christ. MacArthur's fellowers laugh at people who don't know Bible stories as well as they do rather than helping them understand the scriptures. They call them woke or Democrats for being stupid over petty Bible verses when they just need a loving brethren who will come along side them to help them understand the Bible.

Even a Christian cannot brush aside the worship of Jehovah as God. In Revelation 1:5 the Son of God called himself "Jesus Christ, 'The Faithful Witness.'" When on earth as a man he was a Jew, an Israelite, to whose nation the words of Isaiah 43:10 were written: "'You are my witnesses, ' is the utterance of Jehovah, 'even my servant whom I have chosen.'" Jesus demonstrated that he was a faithful and true witness of Jehovah God. His genuine disciples today must be the same kind of witnesses, Jehovah's.
