Here is the written list of all the items you need to bring. If you have already watched the video, give it a read anyways. We have added some extra details here. The recommended items are those that are not 100% essential, but we encourage you to bring them if you can. The “optional” ones are not necessary, but you should consider.
- Thin cotton socks for the field
- Cotton underwear
- Field trousers
- Belt
- Hat
- Sandals
- Towel
- Swimsuit
- Buff, also known as bandana
- Long sleeve shirts or t-shirts for the field
- Short sleeve t-shirts or tank tops to wear beneath
- Lightweight raincoat or poncho
- Comfortable clothes for camp: Jumpers, trousers, t-shirts, etc.
- Face net (recommended)
- Don’t forget warm clothes for Cusco and other parts of Peru
- If your shoe size is 46 EU, 12 American or larger, bring your own rubber wellies. If not, we will give you a pair.
- Sunscreen (you can buy them in Peru)
- Mosquito repellant (you can buy them in Peru)
- Tooth brush and tooth paste (you can buy them in Peru)
- Laundry detergent (you can buy them in Peru)
- Body wash and shampoo (optional, we provide those here)
- Nail clipper and razor
- Electronics such as cellphones, chargers, cameras, etc.
- Dry bags for electronics
- Silica packs to protect electronics
- Bottles and/or camel bags equivalent to at least two liters
- Binoculars
- Whistle
- Compass
- 1 Notebook and pens or pencils
- 35-liter day backpack
- 2 Head torches (rechargeable if possible, or bring AA or AAA batteries)
- USB (necessary for conservation interns)
- Laptop (recommended for conservation interns)
- Power banks (recommended)
- Several Adapters for type A (ideally) or type B outlets
- Wrist watch (recommended)
- Reusable bags (recommended)
