One of my great Uncle's, Lester Allen, was involved in this range war. He was on the side of the small ranchers. He was a relative Janette Allen who married Jack Langrishe in Deadwood, SD. Jack Langrishe had the opera house in the Bella Union Hotel that was shut down for the trial of Jack McCall for the murder of Wild Bill Hickock. Uncle Lester left after the Johnson County War and came to Hell's Canyon on the Snake River to mine Gold. Jack and Janette settled in Warden, Idaho where he became a Senator to the first Idaho State Legislature. An interesting bunch

Love this channel! As a lover of all history, having a small KZitemr specialize in the history of the West is such a luxury! Especially since small KZitem channels that focus on history are a passionate and dedicated bunch

Travis, your style, attention to detail, conciseness... and the way you tell it straight but we know what your opinion is... you are teaching this Tasmanian* a lot about American history. (*another place with brutal frontier history).

I liked this video. Thanks. It's harder today for rich men to steal poor people's property, but not impossible. Abuse of Eminent Domain has been used in the recent past to evict residents from homes that they've owned and the real estate is then sold at a discount to a developer. It's also harder for career criminals to gain political office, but not impossible.

Glad to see you back! This will be an interesting story! Although it’s been panned as one of the worst movies ever made, I think Heavens Gate tells this story well.

I’ll be honest, if they didn’t concentrate so much on the love story and filler, the rest of the movie would have been great! Chris Walken and the scenes with the Stock Growers made it worth watching.

@@KevinSmith-yh6tl Kevin,, I meant nothing bad with my comment . I am 69 years old born and raised in the BRONX NY I worked hanging sheetrock for the better part of 40 years , my body is shot. In 1990 I moved to montana because of the history , I am a history nut. I don't know as much as you do but I was very impressed by your little big horn battle field videos. I go to the battle field quite often. So if I offended you I can assure you that was not my intentions.. Please accept my apology if I did. I love your videos and learn from them. Good one. If the US hadn't 'separated' from Britain it would have been settled in a far more orderly, law-respecting way & become a more peaceable less violent country, comparable to Canada & Australia. Also slavery would never have become so vast & disastrous - see Canada/Australia/New Zealand! Frankly, a much more amiable & moral country to live in. Ah, well...
