That they could form a shield wall of heavy infantry that was darn near unbreakable is a plus. And that they don't forget anyone telling them to bend the knee. Ever. Like Morgoth or Sauron. And they make top-notch military equipment. Other than that - nope, can't think of anything they bring to the table.

It's wild to think of dwarves aligned with the dark lord, i know his influence was persuasive but could also warp those who fell to it. I wonder what it would have made them look

Personally, I feel like the Dwarves get a bit of a bad shake, in LotR. It's not totally fair to say, but that's a bit how I feel, and I chalk it up to two issues: the Hobbit, and Tolkien's preferences. The first part is the easier one. The Dwarves, being so central to the plot of the Hobbit, were relegated to more of a backseat, in LotR. They had had their "screen time", and time to shine, in the Hobbit, while the LotR books meant to flesh out the rest of the world. Its also a bit of myth building for us, and Durin's Folk don't exist today, so thereby have been less reason to give them more attention. The Elves are often more liked, but they were also already departing, so that was covered. The worse one, and even more my opinion, was that Tolkien didn't like them as a theme, ad much. Based on his work, Tolkien often seemed to prefer a more agrarian, laid back lifestyle, living peacefully, abd in unison with nature. Industrialization, and mechanization, were things he didn't like, and wanted people to move on from. Sure, the Dwarves aren't quite Saruman, but they still often seemed compelled to accumulate wealth, tearing I to the very Earth to add to their coffers, and building massive edifices in their own image, to last forever. Many things they built were weapons, and others were simply representing material wealth. They weren't stalwart in bulldozing other communities, or numerous enough to need to tear down whole forests to fuel their forge fires, but they didn't enjoy the world's beauty less invasively, and they were still Industrial. I'm not trying to say Tolkien said this, or hated the Dwarves, but ibfeel more like they were a people outside his preference, and so they were less central, more isolated. Minusing Gimli, the biggest stuff they did was relegated to appendices, and even their final fate was, for the most part, underdeveloped. Say for them, they just weren't the Elves.

To a point I agree that the dwarves are far more industrial, and that is likely a contributor to their ‘neglect’ in the narratives of Tolkien. That said, I think Gimli’s response to and passion for the Glittering Caves beneath Helm’s Deep refutes the idea that they do not appreciate the natural beauty of middle earth, they simply appreciate different aspects than do the elves. I think because the elves love those natural elements we, as humans, more readily relate to, their love of nature feels more genuine. But a love of the beauty in caverns and beneath the earth is still a love of nature, just one alien to us.

@@HeHasGiven Perhaps "industrious" more than industrial. They were not into mass manufacturing and were great craftsmen who really cared about what they produced. While it would be functional, it would also be beautiful. The wonderful toys they made give an idea that making was - as Aule's children - their lives, and they had a lighthearted side not seen in tales of war and strife.

I’d love to hear more of my favourite dwarf clan, the Ironfists. I imagine them holding back the tide of the Easterlings & putting a spanner in the works with the help of the Blue Wizard Rómestámo (Easthelper). Together they would have organised a guerrilla campaign against Sauron’s forces in the east. The Ironfists also sent troops to aid in the war of the dwarves & orcs. Ironfists forever!
