The late Lt.Colonel Ronald Speirs had sent all the cutlery home, all silver from the Eagles Nest. He was the one responsible for trophy’s going home etc. Any other soldiers who had anything of value to do with these items he confiscated from them for himself. He ended up losing the lot suiting a divorce from his wife at the time. No one is sure where all theses parts are now. .

I'm guessing his signature changed so radically over the years because he developed Parkinson's disease. Evidence for this possibility is in film when he inspects the last troops defending Berlin who were, in reality, boys and old men sent on a suicide mission. One can see Hitler's tremulous hand behind his back. I wonder if any of those boys or old men 'deserted' or otherwise managed to live through the war.

I get it. I have, in my possession, some china that my uncle had sent home at the end of WWII with other artifacts. The china was used by the Luftwaffe at a dining room on an airbase in France or Germany. It looks brand new and is pristine condition. Cups and saucers are marked "Johann Haviland Bavaria" with the dates 1938, 1939 & 1940. There is a flying eagle holding a swastika indicating these are Luftwaffe articles. Also marked with "FI. U.V." ( squadron designation?) I have a ladle made from magnesium with Nazi marking and also in pristine condition and light as a feather. These items are very high quality. I really question the authenticity of a signed book and assuming it was taken from bunker solely on a reference to “headquarters” in March. Bunker was pillaged with essentially everything not nailed down taken by the Russian and American troops ( and locals before the site was secured) which explains why the Brit’s found only water and debris. There are actually quite a lot of items circulating among collectors sourced to the bunker and even the flat he shared in Munich with EB at the end of the war in 45.

I can imagine how much people hate seeing Hitler related displays. Like you said, it's not celebrating the monster. It's displaying important history. Yes, Adolf Hitler is an extremely important part of history. It needs to be open to all and not covered up or hidden. People need to see and know what happened in Nazi Germany. So many died needlessly. So many suffered. Generations were lost. We all need to see what can happen when you crush a people under a heel so hard they will even grasp a monster to get out from under that crushing heel. The people of post World War 1 Germany were kept in poverty and starving. Hitler and the Nazi party showed them a way out of that situation. By the time they realized the true monster he was.....it was far too late to go back. Because of that millions died. That is history that never needs to be covered up or hidden away. People should learn from that.

It's not the ideology. It's the importance of the artifacts that keeps the history alive. People tend to forget until they are confronted with these items. I have a (feldpost) letter in my collection from a soldier who was stationed at Normandy. He wrote to his wife that they were put on high alert and was refused to see a dentist because of a painful tooth. The letter is stamped May 23, 1944...two weeks before the invasion... I did some research about him. So far, I discovered that the sender was stationed with "Heeresgruppe B" - Army Group B This group was formed in Italy in 1943, under field marshal Erwin Rommel and moved to France to guard the famous "Atlantic Wall" in Normandy. Army Group B participated in D-Day on June 6, 1944 and retreated towards the low countries under command of Günter von Klunge, later to be replaced by Walter Model. They were forced back al the way to Bastogne where they participated in the "Battle Of The Bulge" and from then on, they were divided into smaller sections and surrendered to the Western Allies on April 21, 1945. I never found out if the soldier survived. The letter to his wife never made it home and their house in Lübeck, Germany was destroyed. This letter is not just a piece of paper in a stamped envelope. It's the personal story behind each artifact that draws You back into that era. If You destroy them all, You destroy the existence of every person involved in that era...whether it is a soldier...or a victim...

Now what this film states is untrue about Hitler being in the bunker for 100 days and later stated 4 months which is a contradiction even there. Hitler spent around 10 days in the bunker at the end. Rochus Misch (Hitler's Begleitkommando SS telephone operator, bodyguard etc. among other things ) has the real story. Hitler spent very little time in the bunker and would go up and sleep in his room in the Reich's Chancellery if there was no shelling or bombing. It was very small, dank and uncomfortable. Not really made to be lived in.

Medical Specialists feel Adolph suffered from Parkinsons or a form of Parkinsons. They did an in depth study of as many films available and were able to determine the tell tale shaking of the hands, head, legs, etc. They said he tried to hide it as we're sure he wanted to show no signs of weakness, but the films don't lie. This would explain the changing of his signature over time.

Great video! Some of Hitler's personal effects including some of his hand towels, a cape and mirror that were taken from his Munich apt. are now found in Oklahoma City at the 45th Infantry Museum. In reference to what Eric said about the quality of Hitler's signature, it is quite probable that the development of Parkinson's Disease greatly influenced the poor quality of his handwriting as he aged. The mystery of what happened to Hitler's PPK that he used to take his own life will probably never be solved.

Hitler was on great fear of his remains being a "war trophy" for the allies. On sure some person loyal to him Took the pistol and disposed of it, maybe destroyed it or discarded it in a way it couldnt be identified. I'm sure that's what he would have wanted.
@frenchfan3368
2 жыл бұрын
@@dwlopez57 I agree with you on the fact that Hitler did not want his body to become a war trophy to the Allies. He studied Mussolini's death and did not want to become a human pinata as Mussolini had ended up. I do not agree however that the pistol was simply destroyed. No one is sure of course, but I agree with Mark Felton (watch his episode if you would like) that the PPK may have ended up being captured by the Russians. Whoever took the pistol may have been captured by the Russians himself.
