Hi! Yes the Exosym will help him a ton. The biggest draw back to the device is the cost. Insurance will not pay for i, there’s on insurance that will cover about half the price but it is still a significant cost. We have contact with many Individuals who can build a dynamic AFO utilizing insurance. Please reach out and let us know if you need any help navigating the AFO world. You can schedule a free consult at bookme.name/therapynexus/lite/free-15-min-consult

For someone with Bi lateral CRPS from a tib plateau fracture, how well does this transfer weight off of the tib/fib as thats one of the biggest issues with lack of movement, it just hurts to put weight on the legs.

Dead Leg Media, Thanks for the question. What are your symptoms? CRPS is a difficult diagnosis to treat. Your odds are a lot better if your lower extremities are able to be unloaded without irritating the location of your CRPS.

Can you answer how the struts work for someone with no ROM? Like if you have a fusion , how does it load?

There’s a few ways it works. First, a lot of your function will depend whether or not the CPO can position your ankle in a pain free position. There’s 26 bones in the foot and all won’t get fused. Hopefully there’s at least a little foot mobility for the CPO to play with. A lot of the time ankle fusion patients will have a much heavier strut because of their limited pain free ROM. All that said, the strut will bend when you run on your forefoot. This is why it’s so important to ensure the proper fit with the proper training to get you to your highest possible function. Let us know if you have any other questions. We’ll be posting a video of a guy with a triple arthrodesis running, doing box jumps and playing baseball.
