As a female doctor, I would like to add a couple of things: - a lot of guys think you are not interested in them because they feel inferior to you or think a doctor would not be interested in talking to them (I went out with a man who said that would he have known I was a doctor he would never have come to talk to me since doctors are usually full of themselves); - some guys see dating you as a good way to alleviate their financial problems; - there are men who feel bad if their woman earns more than them or is more educated. However I can say that now I am a doctor, an average man I have communicated with has been a hard working, intelligent and great person who has already achieved something in life. Also, people treat me more respectfully than before. I am thankful for both.

Though ur reasons r valid, that’s not the main reason why many guys dont date females doctors. It’s really because 1. Doctors have a busy schedule and will likely neglect their partners when dating 2. Some people have preconceived notions that doctors are arrogant, and no one wants to be around someone like that 3. They are simply not interested.

I am in the beginning stages dating a great woman doctor and I really like her but she does intimidate me. I have no issue with a woman making more than me or being a stay at home dad. I just hope she doesn’t look less or me for my lack of accomplishments due to my wild days as a youngster. But besides that I have a lot to offer imo.

Well, it seems you have problems of your own. In Europe, where more women than men pursue medicine quite a few wouldn't agree. A feeling that someone dates you to have higher standard of living is a reality of majority of men, so why would you complain, when actually you get to experience true equality? People will want to use you - and it's fine.

I think this conversation is similar to the idea that men's dating pools increase with age and women's dating pools shrink with age since we as a society value youth in women and experience in men. I guess in this case age=education level and society undervalues education in women.

I grew up with doctors in the family and with a doctor parent. I work in a major hospital system on the path towards hospital administration. I have a good understanding of the unique demands on a doctor's schedule, the importance of their work, and the life-saving choices that they make. Patients are first and this especially includes doctors with on-call schedules requiring great flexibility. The challenges described in this video are so relatable to me. I have been working with matchmakers. I let them know that I have the heart and the strength to support a doctor due to my history and personality, but they don't listen at all. I can't even describe how difficult of a journey this has been reaching towards compatibility and trying to succeed without any help from these matchmakers. I hope with all of my heart that any doctor watching this video finds their matches and the loves of their lives that can truly support them.

You conveniently fail to mention the other side of this “hypergamy” claim. Males refuse to marry women who are of higher status than them. So, even if women were willing to “marry down”, males would still refuse to “marry up”. Males refuse to marry a woman of higher status or performance than them, often because they will not have power or control over her. Even if women were willing to “marry down”….. males would refuse that arrangement….since they will never marry a woman who outperforms them….

Why are you consistently calling men "males" and women "women"? I thought it was feminists propagating the idea that people shouldn't be dehumanised to only their biological sex?

imagine calling men "males" but women "women" and doing this consistently throughout your comment. Your hatred for men is palpable through the screen lmfao. Help yourself please. Also a lot of misconceptions and generalizations in your comment. Very ironic you claim to correct him but do so very poorly. I hope you're not a physician and you're just a random person who stumbled across this channel. I genuinely feel for your male patients. Hope you're in OBGYN!

I’m a female engineer.. and I’ve never dated an engineer or a doctor. I’ve dated a guy that was in IT/student, a banker, a mechanic all who made less than me.. and I didn’t mind. The banker guy was intimidated by me for making more than him, he just couldn’t accept it. And the mechanic guy took advantage of me and still owes me over 2k. I wouldn’t mind marrying up but for some reason I find that guys across or up aren’t interested in me. I don’t know. But would love tips on where to find a doctor to meet because I’ve secretly been hoping to run into a doctor in the dating apps and there’s never one. I would love to see if we’d be compatible.

How much of hypergamy is socialization? I don’t think it’s inherent of women to search for personality and I don’t think it’s inherent for men to search for attractiveness. We live in a system that makes us value these things through advertising. Look up the power theory of economics, powerful people decide what’s right and wrong and what’s valuable. It explains why diamonds are more valuable than water.

Men have been attracted to beauty since the beginning of time and women haven’t always had the option to work so therefore wanted a man of means. It’s that simple

@@DFOlover1 We are products of our environments, beauty standards are different in every society. What you view as beautiful is governed by your exposure to media, pornography, etc. If you grew up on an island of people who looked like turtles you would find turtle people attractive. This observation has been made countless you can ignore the reality you occupy and let these problems continue to fester or you can accept it and work to change the world to be a wonderful place for all. You have more power than you think my friend.

@@tal8871 Why does a feral dog not trust humans? Why does one who grew up around a loving human family love humans? We are shaped by our friends, family, society, etc. I know our lives may lead us to believe there is nothing better but I promise you a little reading and self reflection will reveal a world of possibilities. Like Dr. Jabal said in the video, don’t give your mind over to ideology don’t let others think for you.

@@CraneBad Dude what are you talking about? It's obvious that you've made a recent, "aha moment" into enlightenment but come on. You don't know what I consider beautiful, and in that island of people who look like turtles, the most beautiful turtle would be more sought after. And the male turtle with better qualities will get the best options. It's childish and ignorant to assume that these standards are modern. Pick up a book bro
Add the fact that most male doctors I dated thought I was inferior to their colleges or sometimes even their RNs. I have a masters too but I chose to follow my passion instead of money what they seem to be prioritizing like crazy. They date based on ego and material things what is sad.

For female physicians, not only is there the hypergamy angle, but if she’s a GP, she’s also gonna be fondling a lot of men. Whoever’s gonna be her life partner has got to be pretty confident in himself her feelings won’t run astray on one or two of her patients. Most guys aren’t going to be that secure even if they themselves are doctors.
@kevinjubbalmd

This thinking is way off base. These duties during check-ups are a doctor's job. It is not a place where any professional doctor gets their jollies.
