Absolutely love this video! The shot of Michelle and Paul near the end of the journey is priceless. I am on team bus 🚌 that stops at wineries 🍷. Miss you two and guest rider Paul too. Hope to see you soon.

We trained today on 2 trains from Bansko to Plovdiv. They had the heat on full blast for 4 hours it was insane. We prefer train to bus but sometimes it sucks.

You are very heroic for taking this train, maybe one day it will be good, but also very crazy - take the bus, or a plane for anyone doing this route. The bus has stops and breaks in various bus stations where there is food and a smoke break and coffee and AC(most do).

We agree if traveling in the summer for sure. The train did have two stops long enough for bathroom, food and smoking. A/C would have been so nice!

We just missed each other again! Just collected my Ukrainian family at the Sofia bus station. But normally we travel by taxi because one has to take taxis to bus and train stations and back anyway. So why not just stay in the taxi all the way. Especially if there's four of you and lots of bags

We filmed this in August during one of the hottest weeks 😟 Curious to hear more about taxis over long distance. Like the cost benefit with a larger group vs. train or bus tickets. We have done some private transfers, splitting the cost with friends, however those really only saved us time and not any money. However its nice to be able to stop whenever you like 😀

@@TheWanderingHartz The lack of stress is worth a lot. Let's say you're going from Sofia to Skopje on a business day. It's a 4.5 hour drive door to door but it might be 7 hours by bus where you're not working on your computer. Digital nomads have to work. If you insist on going by bus, you can't sacrifice so much business hour time so you'd have to book the 5:43PM bus and get in late at night (in which case you better know the landlord and have the drill down for late arrival). You've got a family of 4 with a total of 8 big suitcases and 6 lesser bags. You can't get all that packed into one regular taxi so you will have to take 2 taxis to the train station, both jam packed with your divided baggage. If you're lucky, you will pay only 20 Lev (10 Euros) per taxi to the Central Bus Station. But then you've got to unpack those two taxis and pack the bus and pay extra for the extra baggage. They do NOT allow your taxis to be unpacked near the bus so you better hope the taxi drivers will help you drag 14 pieces of luggage including 8 big suitcases more than 100 meters across parking lots or straight through the Central Bus Station building through two sets of revolving doors. When the bus arrives late at night in Skopje, you might find the less honest type of taxi drivers who would then help you unpack the bus and repack their two different taxis and hopefully not overcharge you or drive off with all your stuff or your children. You end up having packed and unpacked a lot of luggage 6 times. Meanwhile, 4 seats on that bus at 30 Euros each would come to 120 Euros, plus 40 Euros for the extra baggage and 40 Euros for all the taxis if you're lucky. So you've spent 200 Euros to go by bus and you've been under a lot of stress and a lot of work packing and unpacking so many different vehicles including one bus and four automobiles. By contrast, you can hire a minivan with a rooftop carrier for a total of 230 Euros to go door to door and you only pack and unpack that one vehicle once the whole way. You've saved a lot of stress and time at only 30 Euros more. I'd say long distance taxi travel becomes cost effective once you have 3 adults traveling with each other.
