Great cut technique Rob! I cringe in horror at the "flat cut" so many "handy" vid stars display, and then badmouth the tool when it binds on them (with 20 teeth on the cut face, lol)

Yes, gotta clear the cuttings from the teeth, particularly when the stroke is so short at 10 mm. That particular blade style is the same as in most garden bow saws.

Yes, but Bougainvillea a chainsaw works better, less hurting from the thorns. Plus the extension one i have works well to trim far away from the pointy bits.

Yes, some plants can be tricky to prune without getting spiked or cut. Those long pole saws are handy, but put a lot of weight on the user.

I know Im a bit of a safety Nazi, but I put the blade in before I attached the battery ;) And reverse procedure when taking apart. Thanks for showing it in action. The fact that it takes Makita batteries makes it a winner for me.

A good point. It takes Makita batteries fine, but I'm told that the Chinese batteries won't fit Makita as the charging ports are different and interfere. The cheap OEM batteries actually last well. Cheers Rob

Well worth it Rob, it beats using the hand bow saw. Did you break into a sweat? Cheers Tony

No sweat Tony. Way better than a bow saw. I always found them to be hard work. Cheers Rob

Making it hard on yourself by using a sawing action with your arm, just let the tool work as designed by resting the tool table on the branch and slowly rotate the blade around

By moving it back and forth it allows the teeth to clear cuttings. These only have a 10 mm stroke.

Something like 40 quid? At that price I'm inclined to get one just for the fact that I have some other tools that can use the battery, never mind the free saw in the bargain. How does using it feel?
@Xynudu

Feels great. Very well balanced with the battery on, fits my large hands well and very little vibration. It's basically the same size as big brand name ones. Not as well made but OK - some slop in the recipro shaft which you won't get on brand names. It runs cool and battery life is normal. I use it for pruning pretty much exclusively now. Makita battery fits it fine, but the knock off battery will not fit Makita as the charging ports are different. Cheers Rob

Where do you get the pruning blades ? I’ve got a brand name red one. Didn’t know you could get blades like that

If located in Australia Bunnings have them. You can also buy them more cheaply on Ebay.

I forgot to ask, do you know if the saw can use ozito, aldi or ryobi batteries? Also can you get blades for it, e.g. from Bunnings? I'm eager to get one!
@Xynudu

The only battery it can use is Makita style. Very few brands are interchangeable. Bunnings have a full/extensive range of blades including the pruning blade used. Ebay also sell them at a cheaper price. Cheers Rob

How do you get trees to grow like butter Rob?

That was a large Chinese Jade plant, so relatively soft and sappy. For harder timber use a 6 tpi blade as supplied with the unit. Cheers Rob

Why are you moving your arm back and forth as if it was a manual saw? LoL that adds nothing to the cutting.
@Xynudu

Clears the cuttings out of the teeth and stops the blade clogging. This only has a 10 mm stroke.
