Wife is from a town just east of Fukuoka-Munakata. Have visited northern Kyushu several times-everywhere has been fascinating. If you want a place to visit--Mount Aso --not just a mountain, a large fascinating caldera complex with an active volcano. Have been there 3 times I think and am always ready to go again. Of course anywhere you go in Japan the food will be absolutely outstanding!

Awesome! Glad you're back! I've been adding your videos to my Japan Trip 3 playlist for ideas when planning, hopefully, a new trip. When we were in Japan a few years ago I suggested to my travelling mates that we take the Shinkansen to Fukuoka the first full day we were there. We only had 5 days, but I liked the feel. I wish I could have seen more. I liked Fukuoka. Windy city, but that kept the air so fresh, and I love any kind of weather. I went off on my own to Nagasaki, and a couple other places, but so many of the interesting places like Beppu and a lot of other seemingly interesting off the beaten path were, not surprisingly hard/expensive/time-consuming to get to. I wanted to get down to Kagoshima as well, but it didn't happen. I'm trying to save up for another trip with more hopping around, so maybe an Okinawa/Kagoshima area thing might be possible. The biggest mistake I made was not doing enough planning for our trip so I could maximize the experiences. I missed the tradition mochi pounding ceremony in Nara, for example. If you ever end up near Ropponmatsu station in Fukuoka, there's a bakery near there called matsupan/マツパン that was amazing when we were there. And I'm not even that crazy about baked goods! I love rural Japan and wish I could have seen more than a few glimpses. Again, bad travel planning. Looking forward to more videos and more travel ideas!
