I have a little spooky mare who hasn’t had the best start in life and lacks confidence in herself and people. I put flags, bunting, balloons ect around her track system so she can desensitise in her own environment without any hindrance from me. Has worked a treat

Helping the horse to get over his fear, real or perceived helps the horse connect with you as it's leader and if consistently applied, will lead to him looking to you for direction when someaning doesn't go right the next time but it takes time and patience.

Awww. Your video just gave me the feedback I needed💓. Took my horse off property second time yesterday- leaving her 3 friends behind- calling her🙉. I had placed food buckets with very lil food every 50ft or so ( don't like habit of hand-feeding). Doing that we killed "3 birds with one stone"🤭. As soon as she seemed heading close to her threashold I stopped, scratched and made sure I slowed my breathing- worked every time🎊🎊. When we got to the food buckets I asked her to wait fir a few seconds( been playing around with that on property) than put my hand on her neck to say: OK, now please eat. Got lots of licking and chewing, lower head and blinking eyes after we went on on a relaxed walk. Ske was inquisitive about mailboxes, garbage bins, kids playing behind bushes and cars driving by🎊🎊but not stressed. By nly One trip down ( and up) the road- we accomplished all three " things" She was NOT buddy- sour She learnd / practiced self-regulating her treashold She 9nly ate the food when invited. Thank you for your awesome video💓💓💓💓

Excellent and informative! Loved it. My intuitive sense told me to retreat and try again but I have been with other trainers that said to push through it. I did not feel good about doing that to begin with. There was a reason the horse started to get scared and gave me all the signs that I needed, high head, large eyes, etc. Sometimes pushing forward works but I would prefer to show the horse that I listening to his cues.

Great Video. Thank you. I will try to be more mindful of these concepts as I am riding to keep improving my relationship with our horses. (btw, Sky that we got from you has turned into a real gem on the trails. Thanks.)

I don’t see any links and would love to see the references you made. Thanks! I’ve got a new scaredy-cat gaited mule. Learning all I can to help him gain confidence, build trust in me as leader, and create harmony.

I am teaching my horse to move his shoulder over and while I'm doing this he's swishing his tail, I could tell he was stressed. I talked to him & told him he was a good boy but continued, I stopped and praised him when he successfully did move his shoulder, should I have done anything different?

I disagree: If horse is afraid and you can stay calm (high vibration, meditative state, no fear, no aggression), you can always take the horse to the places he is afraid of and make them calm. Because you are one body and soul in that situation. It is also a manifestation of YOUR hope according to quantum physics (in quantum reality we manifest what we believe in). Pure courage has always calming effect on horses, because horses don't think like humans, and they are also not afraid like humans. They follow the leader, the SPIRIT of the leader, instinctively. I have 50 years experience with horses and I have been training show & djigitovka horses and bridleless riding.
