🌰HAZELNUTS | When you think of Italy, you probably think about groves of olive trees. But did you know that Piedmont is full of hazelnuts, too?! We went on a tour at a hazelnut farm and saw how they are grown, harvested, and used in food. We even got to sample hazelnut butter (like Nutella…but better!), hazelnut cake, and roasted hazelnuts too.
🍫BACI DI CHERASCO (CHOCOLATE WITH HAZELNUTS) | What happens when you combine hazelnuts and chocolate? You get Baci di Cherasco! Baci means “kisses” in Italian, and these Italian chocolates are like a kiss for your tastebuds! We sampled these at a pasticceria in Cherasco, Italy. Hint: Ask for a sample of the local amaro digestif too!
🌰NUTELLA and FERRERO ROCHER | “Che mondo sarebbe senza nutella?” That’s Italian for “What would the world be like without Nutella?” Where is Nutella from? Piedmont! Who makes Nutella? Ferrero Rocher. And in Piedmont, they can’t imagine life without Nutella! In fact, the hazelnuts are grown here and then produced in a Ferrero Rocher factory in Alba, Italy - but the recipe and factory are completely secret so we couldn't take a tour.
🍝SLOW FOOD MOVEMENT | If you’re foodies as much as we are, then you will eat up the Slow Food Movement! (pun totally intended😉) It launched in Bra, Italy back in 1989 to encourage a slower pace of life. We fully experienced this at our 4.5 hour, 8-course meal with endless wine. Words can’t describe this delicious dinner, but the video does!
🍕EATALY | Eataly stands for “Eating Italy” and it’s basically a mega store that sells every kind of Italian food imaginable: pasta, pizza, focaccia, formaggio, and more! What does Eataly have to do with Piedmont? It was first imagined by a local, and the flagship store is here in Piedmont.
☕️LAVAZZA | Italians love their coffee, especially espresso! And Lavazza is one of the most popular coffee brands in Italy. There’s a coffee museum in Torino that’s worth visiting for a fun, interactive experience plus free Lavazza coffee samples!
🍷PIEDMONT, ITALY WINERIES | Where do we even begin talking about wine? Piedmont is one of the most popular Italian wine regions! From Barolo and Barbera to Barbaresco to Nebbiolo and Roero Arneis, Piedmont wines are out of this world! And we visited a family vineyard that is one of our favorites. Why? They’re so kind and their wine is the best. Truly - their white wine is Jana’s favorite white wine in the whole world!

🍺BEER: Ummm yeah, we went to a brewery in the middle of Italian vineyards. And it was awesome. There were brews, burgers, desserts, live music, and even tiny houses to stay in!
