im not a marine but if your interested all military members must complete a brc course within 60 days of when you bring up interest to the motorcycle safety coordinator, course is the same as a msf course, within 90 days you need a advance course and the you have to redo it every three years. People might want you to wait so you can be trained and be a capable body but inform your chain you are interested and want counseling on the subject, it becomes a talk to know that your aware of the dangers and and if you feel financially capable and are aware of maintenance and other needs.

I'm Active Duty Marine Corps, (0331) and tbh man theres no reason not to buy a vehicle when you hit the fleet. You're still a person and still need to get around. I'm stationed at Camp LeJeune and tbh this is a good town for bikes. It's really nice. I'm going to EAS soon, but if I was a boot all over again, I would've bought a bike when I hit the fleet, I would've just taken someone from my chain of command with me to purchase the bike just incase they try to fuck me over. Just send things up in your chain of command and you'll be fine.

As a rider of 3 months now here's some tips that never even crossed my mind when I first started; 1. Don't get cocky - you're not invincible, I already crashed (lowsided in specific) after taking a corner too quick, was a costly repair and a majorly bruised ego. 2. Depending where you live invest in rain gear, I'm from the UK and my jacket is waterproof but riding jeans ain't, go on Amazon and buy waterproof overtrousers, they're cheap and my god they make a difference. 3. Get winter gloves. Trust me, summer gloves in the winter suck. 4. Get a loud horn, I've installed the denalli soundbomb and going through London each day it makes a massive difference! 5. If you're going to filter then know how wide your bike is. Within my first week I knocked (not smashed) 2 mirrors, total accident and no damage was done (felt bad and both were at red lights so I popped it back in)but don't think you can fit anywhere. 6. Buy a small pack of wet wipes! Especially around rain season if you're on busy roads then all the crap will get throw up in your visor, if you ride to and from work it's helpful to have wipes just to be able to see!
@danielthalaron359

+TBR 660 given the amount of traffic in the city we hardly need anything over 160. And given the state of traffic laws and violation of those laws its a miracle motorcyclists dont die every day, only every other day. So the govt is basically doing us a favor. I can only imagine what hooligans with more money than brains would be doing with r6's on our roads. Bangladesh is basically the worst country to be a petrolhead in. cars have insane tax structures based on engine sizes and whether theyre coupes or SUVs, and bikes basically have a 160 ceiling.
@SportSoulLife
5 жыл бұрын
Eshraq Raihan Ahmed To be honest, you cant use all of the power in a 1000 or even a 600 in any country without putting yourself in extreme danger. I need to fight my MT-10 to keep its front wheel down all the way to about 170 km/h, then i can pin it using all 160 hp. This season I pinned the throttle no more than two times, i didnt get the chance to do it more often, and thats with Finlands traffic. What im most surprised about is that in my mind an adventure bike would be ideal (with my poor knowledge of your country), but none of them are really made in 160cc or less.

I'm not a rider yet, as I'm a 16 year old,( I will turn 17 in February) I love cars and I know quite a bit of them, I've had plenty of experience driving, I believe for my age I have driven much more, and much more variety of vehicles than the average person my age, how ever, over the past months, I've grown to also love bikes, and considering the prices and insurance, as my first vehicle I will get a bike,I anticipate on taking the brc (basic rider course) in January and buying proper gear for when time comes, ideally I shoot for a ninja 250r as I have seen plenty by where I live and the price is fair. my concerns don' involve falling or having a freak accident, my concern is insurance not being the price that they offered, or breaking something in the bike and having to wait to get money to repair it. A little bit more about my self is I'm a highschool student and I'm also studying to be an A&P Mechanic (airframe and powerplant). I just finished my first year of riding and I'm a daily commuter. I spent 3 months on a 1984 Vf700s and the rest on my 2017 Ninja 300. I feel like I made most of my dumb mistakes on the Vf and when I felt confident enough I got myself a new Ninja. I miss the feel of the Vf so I might get the Z900 cafe soon. I feel like it's cheaper to own than a car in my opinion too.

Just hit my first year riding, took a slightly different path tho. Older guy, not much of a commute but found any excuse to ride. Racked up a little over 9k miles on my Z900. Dealer tried talking me into a ninja 400 or a Z650 at the most. The 900 just fit me better and I believe the extra power and torque have saved me more times than I can count but have also nearly bit me if I didn't respect that power. First wheelie was a truly exhilarating oh shit moment! Next 9k should be a blast as well.

While I do like groms I would recommend against it unless you are dead set. You can get so much more bike for your buck if you look elsewhere. I don't just mean like a "125 - 250 cc sucks bro" I mean that considering a new one is about $4k where I live you could find something really great with the same power for a lot cheaper. Or if you wanted something more that 4k will go a long way on 300 and 600 cc series bikes. Or that 4k secures a sweet deal for years to come. I would say to only go with Grom if it's absolutely your dream bike.
@Kaboom1212Gaming

Example from my quick research. Grom $3200 from 2015 good deal. Used one is $2800. Cool. But I also found multiple Ninja 250s. A yamaha R3. A 1999 R1 (cool 90s classic though maybe too powerful for a starter with that i4.) A Suzuki Katana 600, Numerous enduro bikes, a honda CBR 250 a Suzuki GW 250 an awesome Suzuki GS550L and man is this one in good shape..... point is you could get any number of better more fun, or cheaper bikes than the grom. I seriously do not think Groms are worth their money.

plz dont listen to those idiots start on 125 max 250 cc bike. you will build up skills wayyy faster and you will have more fun than on a big bike because you will be confident to ride it harder and is also cheap as hell you wont lose insane amounts of money if you break it or lowside it. I bet they dont even ride that well if at all

Look lil dude I'm almost 30 and my parents still don't want me to ride. But I've been riding dirtbikes all my life so riding isn't the hard part. It's the rest of the world you have to look out for. And it's scary when you can't control the outcome sometimes. I'm getting me a Mt07 very soon and cant wait to ride but still going to take the time to learn how to ride all over again no matter how much dirtbikes experience I have. Just pick a small 250 to start out with and you will be good. And remember how you ride determains how you will be. If you ride safe and practice how to ride rather than just take off on the freeway with no gear than your risking yourself. I'm not telling you how to be but be smart and safe and make good choices. I have an FZ-07 (now they call it the MT-07) and let me tell you, it's fun as hell. Easy for beginners too because even with 700cc, it's torquey down low, not horsepower-ey. As long as you don't pin it, it's perfectly controllable for a beginner. Also, when you're riding your new MT-07 home look through the turn and not at the curb. I remembered that from the MSF course only AFTER I hit it and high-sided, hurting the poor baby. I ended up needing a new set of forks.

I'm a new rider (just passed my MST basic course 06/09, bought a 2014 Sportster XL1200T w/ stage 1 Screaming Eagle and only 500 miles on it 06/11 and got my license & the bike all registered 06/13). I live out in the country in Wisconsin so I've been practicing on my road which is a rustic road that no one drives down besides my neighbors and motorcyclists looking for cool roads. I've been coming home from work and getting out on the bike with my husband and daughter on his Road Glide Ultra everyday and so far I have about 200 miles under my belt. It started with just 7 miles on day one, 15 on day 2, 30 on day 3, 60 on days 4 & 5. The excitement and slight nervousness hasn't worn off yet as I'm still learning but I'm just loving it. I wish I would have gotten on my own bike sooner. I do wish that the MST classes were more here in the states. I've been just practicing what they taught me but I'm literally over 30 minutes ride from a parking lot I can practice in so I'm just on my empty country roads giving it a go. Luckily it's all come pretty naturally and I grew up on the back of a bike so I might have "one up" I guess on some other noob female riders but I really think that the class was way way too fast paced and difficult for a person who is completely clueless when it comes to motorcycles, how the bike operates, etc. It's just soooo much information to take in at once. There was another couple ladies in my class that just struggled hard from the second they got on the bike until the second they failed the test. I think the MST needs a bit of an overhaul.
