I use vinegar eels as a food for very very small fry that I'm transitioning from infusoria/paramecium to BBS. I used to use microworms for this, but I cannot keep those cultures from molding. Vinegar eels are super easy, but the amount of bottles you need takes up way more space than microworm cultures.

I like to use the baby fry powder stuff...kind of looks like egg yoke after putting it in water. I use it for a week or so before going to vinegar eels. In the mean time, i try to do brine shrimp (if they even hatch). I don't have a lot of fry, so i limit how much shrimp i hatch. Once big enough, i go to crushed flakes.

I recently have raised Platy frys by using Brine Shrimp eggs, or to be more precise "cysts". I haven't even hatched them, just feed them straight, and they have worked pretty well.

Just found your channel. Great videos. Looking at making my own auto fry feeder for my koi fries. Was feeding them decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. Trying daphnia culture this season as well. Along with BBS. Bit of variety for them.

I use copepods for as a better sources than brine shrimp. The adults are about same size as Brine shrimp nauplii and they are very easy to culture. The copepod nauplii are much smaller and could be used instead of paramecia. I raise them in large glass container with small amount of powdered spirulina. Then I just pour out in container through a micro sieve., 75 for adults the 10 for nauplii.

Talking infusoria I bred some bettas and used almond leaf for the first time. I bred in a white tub 1 almond leaf and some frogbit by the time the fry hatched the water was full of infusoria. Usually I culture the infusoria separately but wow not any more 👍
