Do You Have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome?
Are You Considering Carpal Tunnel Surgery?
Before any surgery, FIRST: MAKE SURE YOU HAVE WHAT THE SURGERY IS FOR.
Believe it or not, people get carpal tunnel surgery thinking they have carpal tunnel syndrome, when in fact, their symptoms are from a completely different condition. So the surgery not help!
Second:
Make sure you have exhausted all other less invasive options:
Chiropractic
Physical Therapy
Massage
Stretches and Exercises
Bracing
Topical ointments
Rest.
But if your symptoms fail to improve, or worsen, you may need surgery.
This is why I believe it is imparative to have a chiropractor on your healthcare team. If a chiropractor agrees that you need surgery, you are more likely to truely need that surgery, as the chiropractor has nothing to gain when advising to have the surgery (unlike a surgeon suggesting you need surgery).
Chiropractors know natural, less invasive options, so if they can't get you well, then you know surgery is your final option.
That way if something goes wrong, you don't have to wonder if you had another options, and you were at risk of permanent nerve damage if you did not do the surgery, so the surgery risks were worth it.
Risks of carpal tunnel surgery include but are not limited to:
Weaker grip strength
Developing trigger finger
Infection
Nerve damage to the carpal nerve…
We hope this helps you make better decisions with your healthcare provider.
