Good old fashion Flip up with full coverage leather back is the most reliable helmet on the market. And the best for full time pipe welding. I use a miller T94ir with miller papr with a leather back flap. But when I don’t need a respirator I resort to my all leather flip up. And that’s saying something when you are comparing a 100$ helmet to a 1600$ helmet.

I rock a Lincoln Viking 3350. The blue 4c lens is awesome. You can actually see where you are going. And it’s not that typical green shade that blocks out red colors so you can still see the temperature of the metal. Comes in handy while welding stainless sometimes

I have a 3350 as my knock around helmet, but have a Speedglas with Adflo as my main helmet. The Lincoln is decent enough, but nowhere near as good optically. It’s not even close. They are like 20% of the price of the Speedglas, but still.

Auto tinting isn’t good if welding a lot. The small split second it takes for the helmet to turn dark can harm ur eyes over time. I think that’s why none of these welders have auto tinting, maybe just preference tho 🤷🏽♂️

I use a Speedglas XXi for mobile/field work, and an Optrel Panoramax CLT for TIG welding. I mean theres nothing to worry about at all. Logistically, its totally perfect all the time and stuff… So next time your stuck in traffic in a work zone, just know that we are doing it to piss you off specifically. 🫡🤙

That sucks, i used to have to do that when i was working for this old build to order fabrication company. The worst was making those globes that have to be pumped up in order to make a metal ball. A coworker of mine didnt put the root in very deep, and when he was blowing it up, he blew the edge of the weld out into his face. Thank god for face shields.
