Great video, thank you!! I've been wire working for a couple decades and, at first, had a hard time trying to wrap my head around the littlest has the bigger number, the smaller the number the bigger the wire. Until I saw my first drawplate. Wire is made by pulling it through a hole. The more holes you pull it through, the thinner it gets. So 8ga has been pulled through 8 holes and 18ga has been pulled through 18 holes. It is easier and most efficient to start the wire in the largest hole then pull through the next smaller hole to reduce the size. I hope this helps.

For the jumps are you using half hard wire? Is half hard your go to for most wire work or do you harden it yourself?

Most of Beadsmith’s wire is half hard. It doesn’t tell you on the package but you can feel it. I harden it a little more sometimes with my nylon pliers before making jumprings. But I want to keep things simple in this video. 😂

I want to start making jewelry. So as a beginner, what would you recommend that I start making first? I’m pretty nervous about starting this new craft. But I’ve always wanted to make jewelry.

I suggest something small like a ring. Get yourself the basic tools, 20 gauge wire, and a ring mandrel. I have a bunch of good supplies lists in ALL of my ring tutorials. And also have fun and don’t take it TOO SERIOUSLY!

Hi. I just joined your channel so I apologize in advance if this is a repeat offender question for a video you already have. I like the look of antique bronze and I'm new to wire wrapping. I like to focus on quality so I want to avoid the coated wire if possible. Any recommendations?
