I really never taught about rpm when choosing my drill. I wanted something reliable , pretty and with plenty of torque. Then also like you said, I looked at brands that have all tools I might want in the future.

One thing not mentioned here in this video is some tools have what is called constant velocity control in that it does not allow the motor to lose speed when load is applied in the low speed setting. That will skew you results.

Say, if you would want to screw 100 screws. Does low speed save battery power? Or is high speed best for saving power? Or does it not matter?

Power = Torque x RPM As the torque and RPM are known for the low speed setting we can estimate the power of the drill and then estimate the torque on the high speed setting.

This is good we just used Milwaukee 2804 to turn a fuel pump with a 9.0 battery it could only do about 15 seconds & cut off we used dewalt 996 with 5.0 battery it did it for about a minute & started smelling burned so we just gave up & used a old corded dewalt mud mixer & it still struggled but done it though & when done the extension cord was really hot

@@Protoolreviews this was a special hand crank fuel pump that multiplies your efforts & pumps a lot of fuel for a lot of effort it's used on a marine vessel & it fills a 200 gal tank used for a emergency back up 3404 cat diesel generator we've had 996 for years & thought it would have the power which it is very impressive but we use milwaukee's 2804 because it's small & we have a lot of their batteries big & small we keep enough fuel in tank to get generator running & then use the corded drill oh well once we realized how hard this was no one was disappointed in either drills

i like slow speed and high torque because the only time your really need high high rpms is for tiny drill bits and those jobs most of the time don't take that long to do.

I must be thick. put it like this, : I'm driving a no10 screw into 4 x 2 pine on say torque setting 8. Now, which gear speed do I select on my drill, 1 or 2? Unfortunately you were far too technical for me to understand.

Do drills on low torque put out more power than impact wrenches?

I'm just curious, what speed gear should I be in when I use the hammer drill function on my drill with brick, concrete?

Does anyone know how the torque values from the spring were taken. I figure you can get a pretty good estimate of the force off of the spring and displacement but I don't know how you would relate that to torque.

1:25 this is why drill bits also break faster on Milwaukee in the middle of the flute, I don't like this brand

You drill wood, you need more torque. You drill concrete, more speed. To understand better the torque, and speed. Try to cut plastic with a angle grinder and abrasive Disc, (11.000rpm), extreme low torque compared to a drill. Try to cut metal with abrasive disc, high torque and low speed. torque and speed must be calculated according to the application

Dude, I just wanna use my hammer drill (That my dad made me buy) to drill a hole in my concrete block wall so I can hang stuff in my garage, my security cam out back, and a curtain rod in my bedroom. Why does this have to be so difficult. Can someone come over and do this for me? I'll cook you a good dinner.

So I did not understand. They have the torque and speed ratings. Is the max torque always at the lowest speed? Then it's apples to apples at that speed. I don't get why you say all motors are the same. Maybe I should watch it a second time.
