Buying a Z was the best money I ever spent. I've never driven a car that has such a feel to it; something not entirely state of the art nor entirely old school, but its own unique entity. It's quick enough, but I don't think raw power was ever the intention behind these cars. It's for the kind of driver who enjoys the eerie loneliness of an early morning spin, and the exhilaration of tearing into a blind curve full speed with every bit of their soul.

I just bought a 2019 Z sport coupe 6M in all black. It's a great car and I really can't find much to complain about. I just got the engine broken in at 5K miles and I'm getting about 32 - 33 mpg cruising in 6th on a level highway at about 60 mph. My combined city/highway mileage is about 18 mpg. I did have a problem with the 1st to 2nd gear shift being notchy and noisy, unless I very precisely rev matched the input and countershaft speeds. I did a driveline fluid exchange at 5K miles and replaced the stock Nissan gear oils with Redline manual transmission oil and Redline differential oil. The change made a big positive difference in shifting through all the gears, much smoother and quieter. There is also noticeably less driveline friction now, with the car more smooth and stronger at low speeds. I've been using the Nissan Ester oil in all the oil changes I've done to date: 700 mi, 2300 mi & 5300 mi. I may go with a Motul oil in the future after I've done more research on the oil. The stock Bridgestone Potenza S007s are fantastic tires with lots of rubber contact and few tread voids but, surprisingly, the wet grip in the rain is extremely good. These tires stick like glue and help the car to perform great in cornering, plus they're not that noisy. The only drawback is that they are expensive and probably won't get great treadlife.

Congrat on the Z. Very interesting feedback. Thanks. I'm looking forward to Redline gear oils too. Heard nothing but great things about them. I've owned a 300ZX, 350Z, and 370Z, and then I bought a Cadillac ELR when their prices came way down after they were discontinued. The Cadillac was the most luxurious car I ever owned and very economical being an electric hybrid, but it just wasn't as fun to drive as the Z. I moved to a condo and had no place to plug it in, so I sold it and now own my second 370Z. The 370Z is the best car I've ever owned and I am retired now so I don't drive very much anymore, but my only complaint now that I'm getting to be an old fart is how low it is and hard to get in and out of.

@hmongsunglass8981

The recaros are rather thin. If you need access to put small items in the back, theres no problem. Its ability to move forward or backward, fold, tilt or raised is pretty limited as compare to a regular seat. However its ability to hold you makes up for its lack of adjustment. As far as servicing goes, it's just like a regular car and depends on how often you drives it.

@hmongsunglass8981
4 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind that during that period of time a lot has changed in terms of demands. Were talking emission, crash safety and consumer expectations. Between that time they incorporated small over lap fix which the z did poorly on and nissan have to improve the fender area material and or curtain and steering wheel airbags to keep the passenger safe, by 2013 oil cooling was added on, by 2015 back up camera becomes standard, 2015 design also have led drl, finally fake engine noise, infotainment update, clutch change and a secondary tire option. Not to say the tradition Advan Sports tire that comes stock on the 370z is the best but they are better rated than the Potenza. So the base Z started with 3232lbs in 09 and ended at 3272 by 2015 and eventually 3333 by 2020. Now imagine a Z Sports or Nismo which have more weight and standard features. Even more variables which will effect 1/4 mile. Of course they shine on road course with better brakes and rigidity but thats a diferent story for a different time.

I just bought a 2020 370z Sport the week before memorial weekend. I love it. This is my 2nd Z. I was one of the few to first get the 2003 350Z Enthusiast model when it first came out. I loved it but unfortunately it had suspension/alignment issues that required me to keep replacing my front tires (which was covered under warranty) due to them wearing out in the inside and causing an awful roaring noise. They kept saying they fixed the problem, but every 12k or so miles I would experience it again and ended up getting tires replaced by them 3 times till the warranty no longer covered it. Needless to say I didn’t keep it after that in disappointment and found out after I got rid of it that there was a lawsuit about it. Anyway, I read that some Z owners still reported alignment issues with their 2014 370Z’s, do you know if they’ve fixed this issue in the 2019-2020 models? So far I haven’t noticed a problem but I’ve only put 1800 miles (drove it from ATL - DC as soon as I bought it to visit family, but mainly to break it in) on it and it drives straight (haha). Any feedback would be appreciated. Oh, and thanks for the kick plate instal video. I’m getting it for mine and was going to have dealer install it, but now I’ll just do it myself!

Do you recommend an oil change at the mileage I’m in now (1800 miles)? I took it on a drag strip for fun during my trip to DC at MIR (MD International Raceway) and my buddy said I should do an oil change when I got home. @@omarm.7707 I'd wait for Nissans recommended 3750 mile routine on the first oil change as we dont know what kind of additives Nissan use for breaking in their motors. My guess is going to be their Ester Oil, which I dont think is synthetic. After that initial break in period, it doesnt matter what kind of oil you use. However it is safe practice to do oil change sooner if you used cheaper oil. I only put average 3000 miles on my Z per year so I used Redline syn 5w30 with the Nissan filter.

Aside from what was mentioned. The first thing is to keep in mind that its a 10 years old vehicle; make sure maintainence checks out. Most important is transmission and diff drain and fill. Those should be done by now. Oil type is only important if the car sits around a lot. Usually white residue under oil cap indicates the cars been sitting. VQ are not known for blown head unless pushed or boosted hard. That brings mods to your list of concern. Untune and tunes gonna have their benefits. If that checks out and shes got everything you ever wanted, the next thing is oil consumption for that particular year. Have someone else start the car while you are behind the vehicle, blue or white plumes means you walk away. Tires is also important, I usually dont buy cars with shitty tires unless I plan to replace them soon. If youre dealing with tires, note that 10 years is also the average lifespan of tpms sensor battery and those battery are one time used. If you start the car, and tpms light flashes for a few minutes, you need 1 or more new sensors. If its solid, all it needs is air. Keep in mind that when youre buying a used car, whatever maintenance the previous owner skip on? Its gonma fall on you. Thats all I can think off the top of my head.
