Hi Sam here, I really like your videos. I grew up foraging for mushrooms in the mid to late '60s and that gives away how old I am. Back then there was only one mushroom, the morel. Other than a few store-bought varieties, all other mushrooms were poisonous as far as I was concerned. I grew up on breakfast cereals, bunny bread, and all kinds of highly processed foods. By the time I was in my '40s I was suffering from the same metabolic syndrome 80% of our population suffers from today. The doctors were telling me I needed to be on high blood pressure medication, statin drugs for my cholesterol. I refuse to take the drugs and they told me I was going to die. I watched my mother go through the same process, she did all the things that they told her to do and she died. So I'm pretty sure that whether I did what they said or didn't,I was going to die. So I started a journey to find out how to become more healthy through my lifestyle choices instead of through our health care system. Finding your channel is part of that journey. I only just recently discovered that there are more than one mushroom and that there are a lot of good mushrooms to forage for right around where I live. I have found an abundance of turkey tail mushrooms around here and after researching them have found that they are quite beneficial to my health. I have found some conflicting information about the extraction for the nutrients in these mushrooms, I just recently watched a video of a man doing a water extraction and also an alcohol stretching on these mushrooms. You said in the video that they only need a water extraction. What can you tell me about this conflict of information. Thanks for the videos I really enjoy learning more and more about these mushrooms.
the channel just keeps getting better & better :) Thanks PS. someone was asking about live mushroom cultures below so I gave myself a plug knowing that you do not sell cultures. hope that's cool ?

Great video! Can you do a show on how mushrooms can specifically provide health benefit(s)... for example how some can affect measurable liver function, or how they may affect a blood panel test etc?

Great job. Enjoy your videos and your products. Currently on my second monthly supply of powders .... Lions Mane, Turkey tail and Thrive 6. Getting ready to grow some of my own mushrooms. I have over 40 shiitake logs cut and ready to drill and add plug spawn. And oak for totems, hopefully getting sugar maple logs soon for other species.

By the way, if you all made a coffee alternative (like mud\wtr) then I would be happy to buy that from you versus them. For now, I make my own using your powders since coffee beans have too much caffeine and crash for me

My special recipe is to make a tea broth with my wild foraged reishi and turkey tails using water and boiling a day or two, and then also keeping some soaked in whiskey, and mixing the two to make the ultimate medicinal mushroom soup broth.

I've read about mushroom blends having a synergistic effect, but I am curious about the differences in the blends versus the single mushroom. Are we getting the full benefit of each mushroom in a blend, or is it good to combine the blend with other single mushrooms?

Hi Tony! I recently discovered your channel and so far I'm loving every single video I have seen. I live in Uruguay and I'm interested in growing my own Lion's Mane. This mushroom does exist here in the wilderness but it is incredible difficult to find, so I wanted to buy some culture online to cultivate my own. I checked with the corresponding offices here and it is permitted to import it (only condition is that it has to be somehow "certified" by the country of origin). So in short... are there any mushroom culture vendors you'd recommend that ship internationally? Thank you!

how about me ? I sell liquid cultures & can certify that what I am sending is in fact wild lions mane culture from Ontario, Canada. it is unmodified / non-isolated & grows well indoors & outdoors. Uruguay has similar temperatures that we have here in the summer months. I do ship internationally & I also guarantee that my products are 100% viable. if you wish, you may contact me through the "about page" on my youtube channel (I am not in any way affiliated with FreshCap Mushrooms)

Great info. I've seen so many so many mushroom extracts out there and the confusion as to which ones to buy can be dizzying. Just wondering where your shrooms are grown and extracted. I have made a point to avoid anything made or grown in China, so I'm hoping you are US or Canada based. Thanks guys!

you don't want to combine mushroom extracts with solids as the beta-glucans are very large macromolecules that have difficulty being absorbed when other foods are present in the gut. also, caffeine blocks the absorption of the actives in cordyceps.

Reishi was extremely bitter for me! I make a tincture from lemon peel/grapefruit peels and I might add Reishi powder to it right before drinking it. Will the tincture have any affect on the powder, chemically? jc
@FreshCapMushrooms

The more bitter the better with Reishi :) I am not sure if the tincture itself will have a chemical effect on the mushroom powder- in general I wouldn't think so, but I guess it could have an effect on absorption or something... hard to say!

Hello 👋🏻 I’m in the process of making my first dual extraction tinctures and one of them I’d Turkey Tail. You mentioned that alcohol extraction isn’t necessary for Turkey Tail. Can I still continue to do the dual extraction or should I throw it away and start over?

Do you have to consider the temperature when consuming the powder or making a tea? Does the hot boiling destroy anything? Like tea leaves you have to make sure you do not boil the water just simmer.

You mention that "bitter" is better. But if the beta-glucans are polysaccharides (sugar), I'd expect the taste to be sweet. All sugars are not sweet?

If a mushroom powder is not extracted such as with OM Mushroom Master Blend, will it be eventually extracted when you put it into piping hot coffe before you drink it?
@FreshCapMushrooms
2 жыл бұрын
Good question! Don't know about that blend in particular, but mushroom powders in general could definitely be partially extracted this way, as long as the starting material has a good concentration of active compounds. That being said, it would also depend on the length of time for the extraction. Thorough extraction takes a few hours at a relatively high temperature.
