I've heard that dogs can smell emotions from several places but never got an explanation of how. How are emotions measured quantitatively so we know dogs can smell them? Do we produce chemicals/pheromones for emotions that release into the air that we could measure with a device? Can other humans detect them?

The way I'm wrapping my head around it, is I imagine that dogs see different smells as different tinges of color, and "sniffing" ups that saturation to make it easier to distinguish. And they can visually remember these smells the way we visually remember what an apple looks like

Very impressed by how far into things you went in such a short time. Given the time constraints I didn't think you would get past just the Dichromatic vision. It did brush over some of the consequences of each element, but that is a tradeoff which allowed more diverse information in the time constraint. You include a lot of personal connections, like using people's actual dogs in the discussion and talking about what they think of things. Not my cup of tea, but for most viewers that likely helps them to feel connected. By explaining it to another person it gives the sense of it being explained in a more personal way to the viewer. Well coordinated and put together. Not that you need my uneducated opinion to know that. Lol

Lots of questions: How many times has the "booping" experiment been repeated with different dogs? Do visual experiences differ between individual dogs and individual breeds? I notice that my dogs from hunting breeds seem to pick up things further away, for example. What about wild dogs? I do understand how a dog can develop a sense of the world with smell. If a smell is stronger, it can be closer or larger. For example, when my dog pees on the rug, I can't see it, because of the shag and color of the rug, but I can often locate it and tell if it is bigger. Animals are fascinating. Thanks for the video.
