To much heat will crystallise the alloy atomic structure, making it brittle, turning it to scrap, when overhead gantry lighting rigs for concerts are being made the bracing thats welded on is carefully monitored with contact barometer to read the temp while it’s welded, this is critical for safety, unless you know the temps your reaching while working these rims it might be a good idea to find a way to check this ? At a guess I would say your running dam close, it depends on the type of alloys like mags are more forgiving with temperatures up to 450 c, best get some info 👍

This works on non forged wheels, like steelies. On flow formed, forged, and even most milled wheels, it's potentially dangerous, especially on any flow formed from all the natural stress being moved around. The wheel will be less safe than a non fixed one, how safe? We don't know because fixed wheels are almost never tested. That's why it's more dangerous

I reckon you could do this with steels, take the heat treat of them, get them malleable and slowly return them to an exact circumference or symmetry. Then re treat them quench or what have you but alloys don’t bend or dint on impact they crack and can do badly just think it’s a bit dodgy I wouldn’t drive on them, but maybe what they’re doing is completely safe and road worthy who knows I’m no wheel fabricator.

I used to work for a wheel manufacturing company I used to design them. Most wheels are heat treated you have no idea what has happened to the aluminium in that wheel. Are cracks introduced from the damage is it crack detected. What you are doing is seriously dangerous if you anneal that aluminium you are removing the strength added by heat treatment and it will fail in service.
