We ride in high desert terrain which is rocky and rough. First ride however was 80 miles on pavement. Bighorns are doing good but asphalt are tough on most tires. Happy so far.

Been almost a year since the install of the spacers and BigHorns. Both are working great.

Stock 2006 Sportsman 500 4x4 efi studs are 7515513 STUD 3/8-24X1.12 PRS FIT-Z (10) Longer Stud for that year model is 7518378 STUD-3/8-24X1.38,PRESS FIT-Z(10 | [AL] All information pulled from Rocky Mountain ATV Web page and they had the best prices I could find on the studs at just 1.14 each. I am also ordering there spacers to see how they work hope this helps someone down the way. Great help from a old video thanks swalesutube.

I kept the spacers. I did make some shims with thin aluminum to compensate for the incorrect machining. So far they have worked.

i found the (longer) studs 3/8 -24x1.73 part number 7517871. stock (shorter) studs on a sportsman 800 is 3/8- 24x1.38 part number 7518378.

Did the spacers make a noticeable difference in better handling for cornering and side-hilling?

u remember the part number for those wheel studs (longer ones)?
@swalesutube

Sorry I do not remember part number... I only remember that they are the same wheel studs that a Polaris RZR 800 uses (with aluminum wheels).

I just bought a new 2017 sportsman and put bighorn tires on it at the dealer.What they do at the dealership is flip the tie rod over so it goes up instead of down clearance problem solved
@swalesutube

Possibly they changed the strut arms on 2017, but on the 2005 the strut arm will still hit the tire if you don't have wheel spacers.

My PXT's are 3 star which means 6 ply - Looking to upgrade mine as well. Any power loss?
@swalesutube
7 жыл бұрын
No power loss from Bighorns... still hit over 50mph. On my CanAm I went to RipSaws... check my other video. The RipSaws are WAY stronger sidewall. They are a REAL 6 ply and not just a rated 6 ply like the BigHorns. If you want a tough tire go the RipSaw way. They are heavier, but I have not noticed much difference in top end.

How long are the new wheel studs that you put on? Because I ordered 1" spacers for my 2001 polaris magnum 500, so I would probably have to do the same thing as you.

jordan boykin you can find them cheap on eBay. I just bought a set of 2 inch spacers for $120 Canadian ($92ish US). Or rocky mountain Atv sells them for a bit more but better quality.
