I’d love to hear more about shocks, roll steer, wings, gears, it’s all fascinating! Thanks for sharing!

Springs and shocks in themselves are pretty simple. The spring rate determines the amount of travel on bump and rebound. The shock determines the speed of that travel. The hard part is being smart enough to know what you want each corner of the car to do and how to make it happen when you want to happen.

@@mistermusturd6402 that's not debatable. The adjustability and how drivers can make adjustments on the fly. That's what I want to see. Is the center section different from wing to wing? Do teams run different wings to affect the airflow? The side board height and stagger. Does that change?

I would love an in depth look at shocks. To me they are the most black magic part of every racecar. Are you able to tune low speed independently from high speed? How much of a change does gas pressure make to the bump and rebound plots on the dyno sheet? Is that relationship linear? What’re the pros/cons of gas versus non gas? What directions do you go on shock valving throughout the night? Packers, bump springs, all of that kind of stuff. I know that’s a lot of questions but they are definitely the part of the cars I understand the least.

I love it. I'd love to hear about torsion bars. Shocks and springs are common on cars but torsion bars are neat and most people overlook them because they're not immediately obvious like a shock is. Also more of the nitty-gritty would be fine with me, I'd guess there's lots of car guys watching who can handle more details!

Tire Bleeders, you mean? If so I know a little have wrenched on a few cars. Those are rather simple machines but still awesome and important. Temperature is one of the factors of Tire Pressure, as temperature goes up, air expands, so the PSI goes up. A bleeder, you just set what PSI you want it to be, and then as it heats up, it will "bleed" off some of the warmer air keeping the pressure inside at a constant.

The difference in headers use to see teams swapping them all the time for different reasons
@djjazzyjeff1232
Жыл бұрын
One simple reason we do it is because our driver prefers mufflers but they cost some horsepower, so we run open headers in qualifying when every 1000th matters and then switch to Mufflers so he's comfortable for racing. Usually after the heat race and before the feature simply because that's when you have time not better used on other things that are more important.

Would like to know why the car is push started, and do you have to shift or is it just one gear? Are you allowed to choose what gear ⚙️? Or does everyone have to run the same gear ⚙️

Still don't understand how wheel offset changes how tire is loaded. Any engineers out there got answers for this?
@james6m
Жыл бұрын
If the middle of the RR tyre is spaced 18" out from the frame, a 5" offset wheel (closer to muffler) will make the car looser than on a 7 or 8" offset wheel.
@wireless78
Жыл бұрын
Yes that is what we all get taught. But if we go from a 5 off to a 8 off and still have it spaced at 18" from frame how does it load the tire differently? Tire only touches wheel on the beads.
@justinmcminn6560
Жыл бұрын
Exactly! If the tyre is still spaced the same amount from the frame ( contact patch has not moved) then all we have changed is the shape of the wheel.... I can not see how this would change the handling of the car
@AdamOutlaw87
Жыл бұрын
Because tires are so damn big compared to years past along with the wings that keep getting bigger the cars are so locked down creating all this winning off the front row trash that we see in this era of lottery racing.would be nice to change these things to free the car up and put more driver into it instead Woo's answer is a dash draw creating a false narrative that there is so much parody in there series when in reality the true fan can see right through it. Woo thinks there shit dont stink so they will never change so were stuck with locked down parades, is what it is so on to the next one we go🏁 fun fact: every single heat race except one this 2023 season has been won from the front row and today as we are in the current state 65% of the Features have been you guessed it...won off the front row👍
